i am wondering is there any difference between a 95 sunfire gear box and a 96 sunfire gear box? the reason why is i am in need of a gear box and at autopartsnetwork for the 95 sunfire is $280 and for the 96 sunfire which is what year my car is $450 tax so i heard theres no difference but why would they have too different prices for ?

the 2.2 trans will not bolt to the twin cam trans, and vice versa. so long as you're going with the same type trans, you'll be fine.

the car is a maual 2.2

so the gear box out of a 95 sunfire wont fit a 96 sunfire??

If the 95 gearbox came from a 2.2, it will fit, it's identical. but if it came from a 2.3, then it won't work.

I have a trans you can have cheap cheap..

my gearbox is finally giving out and i am just checking to make sure if i go and get a 95 sunfire gearbox 2.2 and put in my 96 sunfire 2.2 will it definally fit .. gonna go to a junkyeard next week and pick one up . so can someone please tell me before i go buy one .

any 2.2/2200 ohv manual trans from 95-99 will bolt right in. You can use any 95-99 manual trans (j-body), if you know how to take the trans apart and swap bell housings.
