I need a pair of Shift Cables for my '96 Ponitac Sunfire 2.2L w/5-speed manual tranny (MK7). Are the GM dealerships the only place to get these ? I can find them for the auto's but not the manual. Are there any better aftermarket cables available? Thanks !!!

Or the closest auto wreckers.

I would say dont go to the wreckers. You dont want to put in a used cable. Go with new. Even though they rape you. I just bought mine for like $170 a month ago for the same setup in my cav. Install is easy.

Same price here. And the condition mine are in, new is the only way with the 3800SC in my Sunfire...

Instead of replacing the cables, I did this to mine after my daughters car had issues.

I went to the local hardware store and bought a pair of brass flange bushings (.25" I.D. .375" O.D. .375" long) and pressed them into the cable with superglue. I put a nylon bushing over the brass bushing to make up the space and used a spring clip to hold them in place. Worked so great I replaced mine on my 3800SC Sunfire.

If I knew how to post pic's here, I'd show the parts and assembly together...

i prefer not to start a new thread. so i am going to try to revive this one.

I have just got a 2nd J-Body. my first was an 84 Cavaliar. now i go a 96 sunfire standard tranny. it has ALOT of slop in the shifter. i think its a MK7 but i have no clue. i found these shift cables while looking around. would they work???
