2004 2.2 5 speed bolt up to a 2007 2.2?

We have a 2004 2.2 5 speed cavalier that we race on a 3/8 mile clay oval track. We have access to a 2007 2.2 with only 70000 miles on it, a lot less mileage than our 05. Will our 2004 5 speed bolt up to the 2007 2.2? I did a search and all I found is the swap from auto or manual or manual to auto. Not too worried about the electrical side of this swap as the engine control is a stand alone set up and we are aware of maybe having to change the ecu. The 2007 is bolted up to an automatic right now. If this subject has been brought up before I apologize, I just didn't find it.

Crank would probably have to be swapped. You would have to check, jbodies use a 6+1 reclutctor wheel on the crank and most others use a 58x wheel counts the teeth behind the crank sensor.

On the inside my car looks like a fighter jet.

I don't believe they share the same bell housing or mounting location.

The question is, what did the 2007 come out of? If it came out of a Cobalt, it will bolt up, but as mentioned above, the crank trigger will be wrong, so you either have to run an external, or swap the crank.

I believe there is another variant of the newer style block in a 2.2 configuration that does not share the same bellhousing pattern, so what the engine came from is important.

Didn't know what the engine came out of when I first posted. Seller is kinda hard to get a hold of. I found out this week that it came out of a 2007 Saturn ion. I checked on a couple of forums and sites and the answers are about 50-50. I think I'll just pass and wait for one that came out of a cavalier or sunfire. Thanks for the replies guys/
