00 5-speed grind when I let clutch out

Short story, bought the car for $300 (STEAL) running and driving with 152,XXX miles on it. It's the 2.4 getrag f23 combo.

Bought it this way so I can't explain what happend leading up to this problem.

Car runs fantastic. But I don't have 3rd or 4th. I'm new to standards so I don't know if this would be clutch, slave, syncros or what. But I have a slight grind into 5th. Which I know is a syncro. 1st, 2nd, and reverse are perfect. Go into third or 4th with no grind at all. But I let the clutch out and it starts grinding like it's barely in the gear and doesn't try to move the car either. I've adjusted the cables and all that with no luck. Suggestions?

Sounds like the transmission is more than a little worn out. It would be my guestimate that the syncros are in rough shape and, if the shift fork isn't bent, the pad is hammered. No adjustment out of that, time for new parts.

I just bought a brand new tranny for $400. Don't have the time to figure this one out. I'll just swap it and over time fix this one so I have a spare.
