15" wheel trim ring?

i have seen them before, a clip on chome trim ring for wheels...not a big gaudy one, but, a little thin one. no, im not going to put them on my stock 99 ls rims, at least, not without paint...but, my thought is, if i can get a chome ring to go around them, i would paint them gloss black, with a chrome trim ring going on the outside.

i know, i should get larger wheels and lower it, but i want to keep a sleeper look for it, so stockish aluminum rims in 15" size shouldnt affect it too much...

i dunno, it was just a thought, opinions welcome, im sure everyone would say that would look really tacky.

p.s. if i do paint the wheels, the factory coating will be polished off and they will be powder coated

oh, and after i get the turbo for it, im going to lower it an inch or so and get differant struts, to eliminate some of the gap, but it will still look close to stock, just a little differant. anyway, thanks for the help in advance!

There's just no way this won't look ghetto. I'd avoid this idea like the plague!!

I once saw chrome hubcaps on a car that extended over part of the tire to make a 14" wheel look like it was 16" or so. It looked completely ridiculous!

Yep.... ghetto for sure... If your goin to spend the money getting them powdercoated and stripped down, and painted, and all that other hassle, save your money, and go buy a set of 15 inch lightweight aftermarket black or gunmetal with a polished lip. They will still mantain that "sleeper" look, but be lightweight and 15 inch.

DO not go with a chrome trim ring... thats just dumb.... IF ANYTHING if you really want to stick with the stock wheels, get the lip polished or machined.... and paint the wheels black, but don't add trim rings or chrome accesorys'... Unles you love getting laughed at for how stupid and ghetto your car looks.

ok, thats all i wanted was a polished lip on the outside of the black wheels to set them off, i didnt want a "extender" hubcap, or anything else. and these arent that heavy to begin with....they arent steelies, they are 99 ls aluminum wheels. i will just polish the outside lip instead.

also, i have a friend that can powder coat them for cheap, and i will be stripping and polishing them,so i really dont have the money to get new wheels, most of my cash now is going towards extra car payments so i can own my 05 by the end of the year.

after that anything i make will be saved up for a turbo kit, fuel system mods, new struts, traction bars, a sway bar, and a set of slicks( i already have the wheels to mount the slicks on)....so as you can see, my priorities are already set, and wheels doesnt come in untill after everything else is done.

however, i wont get said ghetto trim ring
