Ya you can use a impact wrech to install wheels, if you really want to get picky u can use a torque wand... they work just as good as torque wrech, and less then have the time or effort.

i agree i wouldnt risk using an impact gun on my rims, but i would sure like to use mine when i take off my steelies.
Never tighten wheels with impact wrenches. Learnt that the hard way. Ended up with 3 broken stud on on rotor

I do it all the time but I have 4 settings on my impact gun. If you have a gun that you can lower the psi. on then go ahead and put them on with the impact gun. If you don't and you wanna use it to put it on don't freaking kill it lol.
And after that I use a tourqe wrench to tighten. (just so that no one comes in here and trys to call me a shoty mechanic again even though I do body work LOL)

Go tell a mechanic he can't use an impact to put on or take em off, and hell laugh in your face
Every shope I ever seen or been to.. even frikin MIDAS used the gun and then torque wrench
hot dam! if you are breaking studs with a impact then you need to learn how to use a impact. i remove the nuts with the impact and i run the nuts up with mine on the #1 then i put the car on the ground and use the torque wrench at about 85-100ft-lbs depending on the car

yeah you will only break them if the gun tightens them over 100 ft lbs. If you are just running them up with it and then using a torque wrench you wont have any problems. I believe most shops have theirs set for 100 ft lbs because thats what they use them for. So it just all depends on the PSI

we use impact wrenches at the shop I work at for semi truck and car wheels, if you break studs with an impact wrench, you need to learn to use one better or buy one that isnt quite so powerful.

Saying you can't use an impact gun to put on lug nuts is stupid as all hell. A good mechanic wont break wheel studs, i never have, and ive done it and used one hundreds of times.
Hey man, nice Enkei RSF-2's, what size are they? I wantede to get them in a 17 or 18 inch size, but then i saw them on a Civic. THey looked better in the pics than in real life. They remind me of Corvette z06 wheels a little.
About the impact, I am a Manager at a Discount Tire Co, and we use Impact wrenches on EVERYTHING!!!! but we use torque sticks/wands when we put lugs on, it stops at 60 ft-lbs of torque, then we torqe by hand with a torque wrench.
