problem with 19's
Friday, May 13, 2005 4:12 PM
so i had 17's on my cav and i decided to take the 19's off of my neon and put them onto my cavalier. Well i did it and it was fine for about a mile and then it started making a thumping noise whenever i dont give it gas. Does anyone know if maybe it is rubbing or something isnt put on right? thanks guys

What is your offset on your 19s, and what kinda spacers did you have before? Also go ahead and check how tight all your lugs are.

the offset on the tires are 215 45 R19

That's not offset.. You're looking for the distance from the mounting face(on the inside of the rim) to the center of the rim, in millimeters...

Also, 45series tires on a 19" rim is too big..

Do you have hubcentric rings for the 19's, or at least tapered lugs?

My rims are 19x7.5's with a +45mm offset, running 215/35/19's.. Using tapered lugs. No problems here.

That's hilarious!! Those tires are nearly 2" taller than stock tires!

Dude... you're building a Monster Cav. heh.

It's your lugs, the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. Id let off the gas and it would make a thumping noise. Sure enough my left front wheel was kinda loose. I tightend up the lugs and ive been good ever since.

Shouldn't those tires rub on something too? I got 18's with the correct tire size and I am clearing the suspension parts by about 1/2 inch. I don't know how the 215 45 19 can clear that?

Negative.

Dodge neon sport MTX had 5 lug rims.
