what is the difference between a 205-40-17 tire and a 205-50-17

cause my buddy sold me his gforce tires off his srt-4 , and im running a 205-40-17 tire on my 17 inch rim now , and the gforce tires he sold me are 205-50-17 , will they still work on my rim

yes they will fit on your rims, however from 40 to 50 increases the side of the sidewall by 10 % of 205....so basically yes it fits, sidewalls are bigger and may throw off your speedo....check the chart to be sure

they'll work, but not even near the correct size you should have.....

check the FAQ up top and use the tire size calc...

you should atleast be at 225/45/17

205/40/17 are the plus sizing for most hondas and acuras.... hence the reason most tire companies only sell those sizes in package deals. they buy em in bulk for one type of car and give em to everyone.

^^^

Event is correct , i was a moron and thought i could live with those tires on my 00 Cavalier.
( 205/40/17 )

THIS PICTURE IS NOT ALTERED IN ANYWAY, even thought it may look lifted . The suspension is bone stock.

From his post, it looks like he's currently running the wrong tires, giving him that donut look.

The 205/50/17's your buddy sold you are the correct size for our cars, equivalent to a 225/45/17.

So not only will they fit... but they'll fit better than the ones you've got.
