i messed up the Clear coat on my rims

a lot of brake dust and some tar built up on my rims, i had no idea how to clean them, i used some harsh cemicals and after i did to rims and they dried up, there was no more clear coat, this was last year, i know it was a stupid thing to do, now i'm wondering what i can do, is there anything i can spray on there to get at least some shine back? maybe some clear coat spray, something that will not flake off. they are stock 3rd gen rims, there is NO power coating in my area, What can i do?

spray some clear and see what happens. if not, you can always just use the chemicals again

For wheels, you don't need a high-temp coating. You just need something durable. This is why powdercoating is best.

You could always take them somewhere to have them properly refinished.

i would have them refinished or powdercoated, but vht makes a high temp clear if that helps. try, it couldnt hurt.
