On a Cavalier, at least, if the bumpers were gray, the steelies were 14". If the bumpers were body color, the steelies were 15". Not sure on the Sunfires.

^^ Sorry. I should have specified that was 95-99. There were no gray bumpers after 99, IIRC.

There isnt enough difference between the 2 to make any performance difference. If you have or can get a decent set of 95-99 Z wheels do it. They are te best looking stock 3rd gen wheels, and good sets are getting rare. I was going to get a set a few months ago, but couldnt find any in good condition for an acceptable price. I settled for Neon SRT-4s instead.

I'll call your 95-99 Z

and raise you a 02-05 LS Sport.

i agree with the ls sport wheels. they look nice and i think they are lighter. i think the z wheels are 20 lb-ers and the ls sport i know for a fact are 17.8 lbs each.

It all depends on the material, but as for stock, I don't think it makes any difference on weight. Aluminum Alloy does have the lighter weight but not that much in weight of performance. Like others on here, the SRT-4 Neon rims are a great style and are a great direct fit, but if performance is the issue, look for a 17" or 18" in aftermarket rims. Just my 2c.

My "stock" 14" aluminum wheels weigh 13# each............

stock 95-99 z24 rims weigh 17.1 pounds a piece. 36 pounds a piece with a stock eagle rsa tire.

just to reference, weighing my forged "12.5lb" 17" velox rim and dunlop tire on the same scale came up with 41 pounds.

so... the stock 95-99 z 16X6 rim and stock tire is a nice combo as far as weight is considered.

180hp in 1989 or 145hp in 2002, you decide. >

Brad, those numbers don't make any sense, unless those Dunlops have way thicker sidewalls or something. The 205/55 should have more rubber, not the 225/45. And you already know the rim is almost 5 lbs lighter.

steelies came in both 14 and 15 inch on the J cars. there was an 15 inch alloy rim also. and a 16 inch alloy.

unfortuantely (and its been confirmed by dunlop) my direzza's weigh 27 pounds each) and the rim actually weighs 14 pounds, not 12.5 LOL

Not to beat the dead horse, but I thought gray bumpers were 95-96/97 and body colored was 97-05. I always see base sedans with 14 steels and body colored bumpers and molding. I remember the changes through the hubcap styles. They stopped making the bumpers in gray when they changed hubcaps back in 97
