As far as lightweight 17s for a good price, when I was looking, I wanted a 17x7.5... I found two that I liked that size.

17"x7.5" Kosei K1 Racing 16.7lbs each 35 offset $179 @ www.tirerack.com
17"x7.5" Falken Hanabi ~17lbs each 42 offset $159.99 @ www.1010tires.com

The Hanabi has a better offset for our cars and is cheaper and weighs about the same. I almost went with them but I got a deal on a set of used Kosei K1s.

the ro_ja formula 5's are a nice 5 spoke rim, and the 17" version weighs only 14.5 lbs.

i like those ro_ja's but i herd they were discontinued is that true? i also like the 5 spoke centerline wheels i dont know the name and cannot find how much they weigh. the motiegi trak light is nice but no 5/100. is there a site that actually tells you the weight of wheels. all the sites i look on have no weight listed for the wheels 1010tires.com lists some but not most.

i think they may be discontinued since roja has several new wheels available, but there are several sets on ebay right now. brand new. you can get them for about $500-600 shipped for the set. here are a couple

Another rim I would check out is the Drag DR-8. They're only 15 lbs. for 17's and run about $380-400 for a set of four.

Rota Slipstreams look nice and light.. i was told the 15" ones weigh 6lbs each without tires but im not 100% sure.
someone had a set of TrakLites and Goodyear Drag Radials and they said one weighs less than a spare tire donut and thats with the tire mounted....cant remember who but it was on AIM, i think it was Josh Roberts with his new cavy aka Minion, so that would be a good setup there.. he only has 2 tire as the drag radials obviously, for racing..
