will a 00-02 gauge cluster fit on a 95-99 sunfire?

No and no,

the 00+ gauges are a different shape than what's in the 95-99 Sunfires.

95-99 Sunfires also use a different plug than 00+ J's. Also, the milage is kept in the cluster in the 95 - 99 J's are kept in the cluster where 00+ J's kept the milage in the ECU, so that's another problem.

More so than that....

The cluster in 00+ cars is driven by the body control module (BCM). It doesn't do much on it's own... just kinda sits there. The BCM is the key.. you don't have one in 95-99 cars... but they do in 00+ cars. It controls all the functions... cluster.. radio.. lights.. DRLs.. keyless entry.. Passlock.. etc. BTW, mileage is stored in the BCM.. not the PCM.

The cluster controls most of that stuff in 95-99 cars..

So, the mileage (km's) are stored in the BCM, not the cluster???

95-99 mileage stored in cluster.
00-05 mileage stored in BCM.
