Hi

I purchased a type S s2000 button starter.

I went to go read the instructions but they are in Chinese. I have a 96 cavalier 2.4 and I want to know if any of knows how to hook if up. The only English they have on the instructions is

Red 12v battery
White Starter Coil
Black ACC
Yellow to Switch

I need to know what are the wire colors for these in a 96 cavalier z24

I cant figure it out from the manual

thanks

You still have to put the key in the ignition... I'm just not seeing the point unless it's just for fun and cosmetics... I want to move my key ignition to the center console.... That would be cool.

Crap, I didnt know you still had to have the key in...
I was gonna make this my next mod.

Oh, well - I was a little worried about theft anyway, but it looks awesome, Brent!

Well I guess you don't have to if you wire it that way but that doesn't keep someone from jumping in your car and starting it and taking off...

Yeah you are gonna have to bust off the steering wheel locking mechanism if you want to use just the button...but yeah, then it wont take diddly to jack your car..

However it can work the other way. I security feature.

Put the button where only you know where it is, say like under the carpet near the fire wall. So your foot can hit the hidden button to start.

Here is the reason you can't do it without the key however i am thinking of a way.
GM have a passlock 2 on cavaliers for a security purposes. When the key is turned the car needs to sense a certain amount of resistance with your key in the cylinder or else it won't work. However, I work at best buy as an installer and we do remote starters in these cars all the time. We use a bypass module called a 555L. We wire it in with the passlock 2 wires to trick it so it can start without the key. I will look at the unit tomarrow at work with my cavalier and firure out a way to do it.

Anything is possible with a little thinking.

i had one on my last cavi, but only because i had an extra push button switch laying around and the starter wire on my ignition went out so i just hooked that up and sold the car.
