aight..ive searched and searched....i am getting a 5 inch autometer tach tomorrow w/shift light..and i am wondered if i have to ( for sure ) get a tach adapter...cuz if i dont need one i dont wanna buy it..

i have a 97 Z24...ive read that u tie the tach wire into the tach terminal..but im not sure if i have one..not really sure how it all works....figured some people on here would know..

i dont have a tach either and mines a manual... what the hell was gm thinking

2.4 = no adaptor
2.2 = yes adaptor (2200)

if its a 2.2 you will defiantly need a tach adapter. i just installed my tach and tach adapter yesterday. i tried it with out the adapter and i got no response from the tach, add the adapter and now it work like a charm.

aight..thanks for the input guys..it is a z24..it is manual..and it does have a stock tach...im planning on trying to hook it up tomorrow..one of my buddys is helping me so i think ill be aight..he installed his..

Stock tachs suck, they are not that accurate. Plus the aftermarket one would be bigger and have a shift light.

You know you can add a shift light without adding another tach?
