I tried searching but came up with squat.
I took off my door panels to install my speakers and was wondering if when i reinstalled the panel if i needed to put that stupid plastic rainfly thing that was glued to the sheet metal back in, or if it is completely unnecessary.
This is in a 96 sunfire if that makes a difference.
Side note, I'm working on custom door panels and had a question about mounting the speakers directly to an mdf ring glassed to the door panel, would it hold up or would it vibrate the panel apart over time due to the weight of the magnet and the sound vibration.
i took my stock speakers out cuz they were fried so i jimmted some 4 by 6's and i never put that stuff back in it just to hide the speakers
if u glass right and put the right amount...then it will hold...dunno about that plastic stuff though
You should have the plastic sheet on. It's a weather seal and helps keep the moisture out of the cabin.
I'm missing mine on the driver's side and every time I take the panel off I think "Man... I should really put that on there..."
I actually get a bit of a breeze on the highway through the door handle. heh. Definitely not a good thing.
