Well im thinking of taking and cutting out my spare tire well and using flat metal to fill it in..im not too much of a racer but i dont use my spare and never will so why not get rid of it right..also make for easy sound dampening..is this a bad idea..ok idea ...anythugn i should do to help it along?? phil

if your sound damping im assuming your adding a stero, so why give yourself less room in the trunk? even so removing it may save you 30 lbs perhaps so unless your seriously racing your going to go thru a bit of effort for something that gives you less room, will decrease the strength of that area of the truck a bit and not have any big gain for you.

Ok so pull the tire out and you have a place for your amp and subs to be custom mounted. Why would you do away with the space when it could be used? I don't follow you on this one sorry.

I see the point in removing it if you think you aren't using it, but consider it this way. You may not be using it now, but what happens when you want to store a spare tire in there, or you want to have an area to hide an amp or what not?
I will never use it for a spare tire..my tires are too big to fit itso yah..sure i could say if i sell it but honestly if i sell it no one that buys it is going to care about the spare tire. Im puting the amps behind the sub box and dont want to put them in there cause it would be a paint o set them since the sub box doesnt move and will not move, I have one sub a 15 that im building anice and rectangle ported box for it was just an idea also there is things i have heard about it ruining sound since the sound waves go down and should only be going forward and back.....just a bunch of things..alwell.i guess ill keep it and maybe make a ported glass box instead,,phil
im almost thinking about removing mine as well, but if i do it, its only to house 2 air tanks under there

its not going to ruin the sound. your space will get smaller wich could increase bass but i'd be the diffrence will be less then .25 a decibel. u may not be intrested in a spared but allot of people out there are. if you think you will ever try and sell it i'd advise against cutting up the body of the car.

I cut most of mine out for weight reduction, I do plan on doing the rest next time I have some spare fiberglass materials around. It weighs no where near 30lbs, 10 max.
