I have two 12 inch neons under my dash and it lights up more then enough at night and still maintains a clean look. That red-cathode pic is just way too much overkill.

I don't think 36 would work under there, unless you were planning on cutting through the dash to fit it in. You'd be better off just wiring in two seperate tubes or cathods. Besides, that 36 inch tube will pull a LOT of power. Thats basically like sticking in an underbody tube under the dash.

A cold cathode gas filled tube or vacuum tube is one in which there is no cathode heater. It contrasts with a cathode that is heated to induce thermionic emission of electrons. Cold cathodes sometimes have rare earth coating on them for enhancing electron emission. Some types contain a source of beta radiation to start ionization of the gas that fills the tube.

(1) a colorless inert gaseous element comprising 0.0012 percent of normal air; (2) a fluorescent, a color of ink or dye that is especially bright.

i took a 48' led under body, removed the tube clear shrink-wrapped it and rewired it then put it under the dash in my 03 and hooked it up to a switch. it looks great because its flexible so i was able to get it through a passage in between the ac crap and panels. i get compliments all the time

i had my led underbody kit.. i took it of and threw it away maybe i should of kept it, either way it sounds stupid for a 36'' neon under a dash. If you can afford the gas to drive the car these days then you can sure as hell afford 2 neons instead of trying to mess with one.

yeah, i can BARELY afford the gas, i dont have an extra sixty bucks for a pair of neons.
being as im 17, im in highschool, i work part of part time at mcdonalds (like ten hours a week at sic bucks and hour, wtf)
and my mom takes half of my check for car payments/insurance
so yeah, i have to be tight with my money
speaking of which, i have less than half a tank, no money, and i dont get paid til the friday after next
