Air/Fuel on 04 Eco
Tuesday, February 15, 2005 7:19 PM
Alright i'm having a problem installing an air/fuel gauge on my buddy's 04 eco. On my 03 there was a purple wire right near where some wires connected to the motor, but on his, there isn't a purple wire in sight. Has anyone ran into this problem? I even looked on the first o2 sensor(the one on the header) and there was also no purple wire. What am I supposed ot be looking for? Thanks in advance.

well your supposed to connect it to the FIRST O2 (the one in the header) thats the one that gives you the readings that make it bounce all over. all the second one does is check to see if the cat is working.

either you didnt look hard enough or someone forgot a wire cause its there on my 04

There is no purple wire coming out of the first o2 sensor. There are 4 wires yes, but not a purple one like on my 03. Would you mind telling me the other 3 colors on yours so I can try to figure this out? Thanks man.

well sir either you got a 3rd shift friday car, a 1st shift monday car, or your blind.
straight from the GM service manual for the 2004 Model Year J Car line....

Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Sensor 1
12160482
4-way F Metri-Pack 150 Series Sealed (BLK)

PIN: A Wire Color: Tan Circuit No.: 1667 HO2S Low Signal Sensor 1
PIN: B Wire Color: PURPLE Circuit No.: 1666 HO2S High Signal Sensor 2
PIN: C Wire Color: Dark Green Circuit No.: 676 HO2S Heater Low Control Sensor 1
PIN: D Wire Color: Pink Circuit No. 439 Ignition 1 Voltage

now this is for the sensor in the manifold. the one your supposed to hook the gauge up to. and make sure your connecting it on the PCM side of the connector

There is no purple wire to speak of. The four colors are: pink, black, and what look to be to greys. The pink is a very light pink, but I tried it anyways and was not getting a reading. His digi cam wasn't picking the picture up so i'll charge mine and see what I can come up with.

The purple wire is after its connector.

Whoops forgot about that while searching for colors. I thought I tapped into mine right before the wire goes into the motor under the idi cover thing so I looked there and also no purple wire. I have no clue, but i'll continue searching.
