Project 3-Tone - Update!
Wednesday, March 23, 2005 6:15 AM
Yes that's right, the doors are PAINTED! The shop did a great job. The guy actually repainted the kit for me, fiberglassed one broken corner on my sideskirt, fitted it properly and painted the areas where you could see the red from my stock bumper.

These aren't great pictures but I just got the car last night and this morning it was raining out so the car isn't fully washed. I will post pictures of my car when it is nice and bright outside. Enjoy!

By the way, the reason in one picture you can't see the fog light and one you can is because the guy forgot to take the tape off the light after he was done painting. I took it off and snapped another picture.

Let me know what you guys think!

ehh paint the wheels black or gunmetal and it might look a lot better otherwise i`m just not feeling it it just looks too much like you slapped on parts from another car

It looks unfinished. I respect the creative thought put into the work that you did but it's just not comming together IMO. Gunmetal wheels would def help if this is what you are going for. The white stickers kinda throw everything off as well but it's your car man of you like it screw what anyone else thinks

Cars looking good. Really coming together. Can't wait to see the finished product once you get the hood and wing on. I still go with my first idea of you needing a white accent line somewhere to bring it all together but things are looking good eitherway. Good luck with the rest of your mods.

its different.....i kinda like it but i think id like it more if it was all red

maybe with some different wheels it would look way better, like geeds said some gunmetal wheels would set it off

I really like it, its different. The only things I would change is a set of gunmetal wheels with a polished lip and getting rid of the white decals on the side....then it would look hott....well more so than it does now

I think it looks really good, I just think itd look better all red. Either way its a nice car, good job. Only thing is those rims dont match at all.

Yeah man, it looks better.. I commented before on your other post about the color of your wheels throwing the scheme off.. I agree with the rest, but I say get some gloss black wheels and that would look soo much tighter.. It does look better though..

I dunno, I'm thrown off if I like it or not. It definately gives you something to look at though. Props for the work you put into it

About the whole rim issue, the white is supposed to be my accenting color, that's why they are there. Another thing, I don't like black or gunmetal rims what so ever. Just so you guys know, this is only an update. I'm not done with incorporating all 3 colors.

These pictures are really bad cause they were taken real fast just to show that it is actually painted. When it clears up here, i'll wash my car and taken 100 times better pictures.

Thank you for your comments

Looks good adam. But I have to agree with the majority, the rims just dont flow right. Have to see how you do the white accents.

i'm sorry but i don't like it

its not too bad i guess....its what you like, not what i like

Re: Project 3-Tone - Update!

I think the rims make it look more unfinished than any other single thing. The other thing tho is the stickers stopping at the black bottom half. That makes it the bottom look unfinished, too. I would either dump the stickers, or add more going onto the black area (if you insist on keeping them).

I know you just said you don't like black wheels, but some black wheels that had maybe a side of each spoke painted red might look hot.

My opinion-----I know you said you were not done, but i will offer up my opinion anyway. I like it---always have liked red on black. Only problem I have is that there is no sort of transition color, just goes from red to black. Add a white line between the two and i think you'll be fine---you'll even be able to pull it off with the white wheels that way. But please do not do what I see so many people around here do----don't just throw some white somewhere on the car so that you have it---make it between the 2 colors.

i like the idea, i had a two toned cavalier as well(i'll leave the ugly sig up so u can laugh at me lol) heres my 2 cents, the top half is red and the bottom is black obviously, but i think that there is TOO much black on the bottom for the wheels to look right, if there were more of a..i dont know design, or something not as solid as just the bottom half it would look better with the wheels. i think black wheels would look better and maybe carry out the white on the top. but thats just my opinion. good job on being crative though, i like the kit, just not the wheels as much. good looking car though

im not feeling this at all. Like said above, if you atleast got some darker wheels, i could see somthing, but if i didnt know what you were doing, i would have thought you got peices from all sorts of cars, and now your waiting for paint.

I could see if you felt that way before, but not after I painted the door so it all comes together...I think that should give away what I was going for. I really don't understand your "pieces from all sorts of cars" theory though when I just have a body kit done and that's it. If I had a blue bumper, green side skirts or primer all over, maybe.

Like I said before, I'm not done yet and I'll give updates and I'll also post pictures of my car on a nice day like I did with my previous pictures. These really aren't good pictures at all.

I dont like it. It looks just as bad as when you see a car with an unpainted body kit on it.
