Hp tuners my friend....

But that will be a feat in itself tog et the car to run 1000cc injectors right....

and it'd be like a 12% loss....

but anyway chris knows what he is doing and has covered every aspect

Thanks for the comments and the backup phil:

The reason for the log manifold? Money, laziness, and space. There already is barely enough space to pack the turbo in there safely without having to move a lot of lines... so we dealt with the log manifold as best we could, opening up the ports to match the head, etc.

The fuel lines and rail are fine at that horsepower, I"m not worried. I also have the well-proven blazer pump which I've seen in 500 whp fiero's. The injectors are 1000cc RCENGINEERING injectors courtesy of TeamVision Racing (yes I paid for them, no sponsors here hypsy can sponsor his own car haha)....

The reason for the fmu is due to the limitations of HPTuners. I plan to meld the best of both worlds of digital tuning via injector duty cycle and fuel pressure to create the best dual-stage tune I can.

And 500 whp is only around 575 hp.... and just so you all know 500 whp isn't the max goal on this car so we'll see where I take it - the injectors are rated to around 625 crank horses, the turbo - we'll see if my calculations were correct, the fuel system is good, and for the most part things look good. If the spec clutch doesn't hold, so be it. A new one will go in eventually then.

Yes, the LD9's are coming back... so far an LD9 holds the whp record on this site and I am hoping to replace it and create a new tier. Don't be mistaken this is no dyno queen it is a 100% street car.... and all my mods are street legal.

For an update for you folks, we tore out the tranny tonight and found my leak - It was one of two things I guessed it was, which is upsetting because I just got the whole thing in and together but I'll fix the issue and get it all back in for the weekend and go from there. I have a minor oil leak SOMEWHERE that I'll find, but other than that everything has looked good so far... just back luck with the tranny. No biggie.

Any more questions, I'll be happy to vaguely answer them.

You mentioning about NOT disclosing your info to others and wanting people to spend money for their own R&D and stuff?? Just like you have?
Greedy man that is all I can say very Greedy.

This is my fellow JBOers is why we will always fall short of Honda and Mitsu owners and many others because of people and attitudes like this and not wanting to share opinions and things that work.

But you are gonna make the other person spend all the money just cause YOU had to, damn I am totally opposite of that, so sad.

Everyone here is out to make some money or something on us so last thing we need is spending even money on R&d.
I can care less what is done to your motor, oiling is not an issue in my L61 or my LSJ so I don't need a tissue here, but at least don't be a little fairy and PM some that do care, but you are TEAM TOP SECRET AH? lol

Anyways man, you think you got it all figured out on how to make 500-600 whp, but I say you are at least $3000-4000 away from it, given that the motor holds.

Ever driven a 400 whp FWD car?? lol seems like yours is set up so nicely for 600 with no chassis work or anything, anyways I am done here.

At least tell people that wanna know don't be so selfish. At the end of the day never forget you still ONLY DRIVE A SUNFIRE/CAVALIER.

One more rant before I go HP tuners SUCKS ASS, you think you will be able to tune in your car with HP, oh man are you in for a suprise, man you better tell me you are running an AEM or Haltec or something.

You know, Yasmin. I had a big long post typed up for you and suddenly realized, I didn't care to explain myself to you.

Go ahead and believe what you want, whatever puts you to sleep at night I guess. This post isn't about what you think it's about what I'm doing - period.

Go play with your old ecotec pistons you ran lean on - you know since you're a clear tuning genious.

haha guess what so do you!!

I can understand why he's not disclosing everything, I've seen his work get copied, copying is one thing, lying and not giving someone you got the ideas from is my guess why he doesn't want to share his information anymore. Too many ungreatful pricks on this site.

oh my GOD...ppl, quit bickering! ive known chris for a while, and i can tell you that his 500whp is GOING to happen and i can VOUCH for him-he's told me some of the engine mods over the last year. believe me, if all goes well..HE WILL HIT THE NUMBER.

why even argue about it? he's obviously done way more then the average j owner to his car...give him props for that for gods sake. IMO even if he doesnt hit 500, or even 400- it would still be one of the best built 2.4's ever created.

so, plz ppl support this man and his goals, after all- were all here because we love our j's....and want to see everybody succeed-and nothing else should matter.

Re: Sweetness: And so it Begins...

I dont know why everybody thinks this is so unreachable. Mike Karas had a far lighter build, and far less tuning tools available to him, and he hit waht, 400? The motor Chris has combined with his tuning strategy, he should be there no problem. Obviously handling a 500+ hp FWD car is going to be a little insane, it isnt impossible. There are things to get around taht, like a very high powerband, which will keep stress off of things in the low end, key to longevity of such things like axles and tranny, and will keep wheelspin down. Of course there will still be plenty of wheelspin on hard acceleration, but nothing that cant be dealt with. His goal was 500hp, not a 9 second 500hp car. Yasmin, you achieved 350hp with MINIMAL tuning, fmu and safc, FAR FAR FAR less tuning ability than Chris's strategy. It sounds like somebody is getting a little jelous here. Tell me why he NEEDS a standalone? What, to say that he has it? Sure the fuel tuning based on map would be nice, but, like he said, he will have it just fine with fmu coupled with hp-tuners, and less the 2 grand extra it would cost for a standalone, plus all of the wiring.
Re: Sweetness: And so it Begins...
Tuesday, August 29, 2006 10:32 AM
HP Tuners has it's limitations, chris and I both know this, thats why he has the fmu to help with it. Unfortunatley I will be even stretching the boundries of hp tuners with my mild build. Thats how it is, plain and simple....

Re: Sweetness: And so it Begins...

The FMU he is using has absolutely NOTHING to do with him tuning the car and reaching his goal. It's specificlly for the usage of his two stage boost controller, as HPT will NOT tune up to a declared psi like most other software applications. The bottom line is Hptuners will tune all the power anyone will ever make on this platform for far less than a standalone, but you need to know how to use it..

Well Chris, its been a long road to get to this point. Ignore all the jealousy of some people and focus on your goals. We will get this tranny back in this weekend and you will drive the car next week to start the break-in procedure. All I gotta do now is get your tranny back to you!

coming from a neutral standpoint in this whole ordeal, not knowing any stories, not knowing anything and really not caring much at all about what really is going on.
i can see both points of arguments coming from some and i can see your point sweetnessGT.
i do believe that you have every right to want to keep things secret and not have people copy you, it is respectable when you have done things that no one else has done and have the capacity to back your claims up, however i do see a great point in what...suncavi? i think was saying, that sharing information among this site would be of great help to those who actually want to perform rather than just make their econobox LOOK good or fast.
people have no respect for our cars now and what are the chances that maybe someone will run into a decently fast cavalier, heck i've been hanging out with j-bom and half of their cars are boosted and quite fast. but still on the street everyday you don't see them. if what you are doing can help out our "scene" or someone make their car pretty quick if you will, why not share some information, or some know how?

it is just the internet, who cares what is said and done here or if someone does something that copies you, live your life and know what you have accomplished. don't live life thru the net trying to be billy bad-a**
*edit* not that your trying to be billy but i'm just saying...

I agree w/ T2 completely, plus only the ones who are/were dedicated enough as you were will acutally take into consideration what you have done to your motor anyway......sure EVERYONE wants to know whats done and what parts were used but how many of these people are really going to copy what you did......1% if that.....

This is mostly the reason why I dont post much on the org. I've seen a lot of stupid bickering that took place on the org since I became a member of the j-body. org since 1998-99. I mostly read and move on.

Wow controversy follows me around like a sick puppy! Haha.

To those who have had good to say, I thank you.

To those who doubt.... I can understand your position. Give me some time to shock and amaze.

To those who think I should release specs... clearly you have never invested in something like this... But I will say this. An engine isn't a complicated thing, I received vast amounts of help and advice from Scott, Brian, Ron, Jay, and a lot of other sources including Racetech Automotive. I then turned to JBP to help me make this a reality, who in turn went to the vendors and asked them to do something special for a one of a kind LD9.

If you want to do the same, just tear the motor down and get a look at it, read a lot of books, talk to a lot of shops and racers, and things become clear. There was a post covering a chunk of the weaknesses of the LD9 a while back which I contributed to, and Brian covered most of the weaknesses.

When I say this motor has too many custom machined parts to list, I mean it... the ecotec might have a headstart on the LD9 in terms of tensile strength but overall it still requires a lot of work to throw a lot of power at a motor.

With all that said, let's stop fighting about this crap. It's built, it's sitting in the engine bay, it runs, and starting this weekend the break-in begins... then I can start working my ass off bringing it up in RPM's and power slowly as I get a base tune set. Then it's dynotune time... i'm hoping I can fit that in this season and get some base #'s before the snow comes.... regardless I'm expecting to definitely hit my goals next spring at the latest... and the racing world can finally stand up and take notice of a very un-loved engine, the LD9.

The the stories can begin about that crazy canuck and his damn stupid Sunfire he calls Sweetness.
