I'm still lost at how your going to get all that power to the ground without snapping the driveshaft. But I'm sure it's thought out also...

The tranny and driveshafts are from a beretta GTZ.

Chris the engine looks mint

Also for the guy that said that Chris isnt helpful. I have to disagree he has been great with me and many others in his area with questions about HP Tuners and what direction to go in.

Great job Chris

Looks GREAT Chris!

We've talked a bit and I understand why you are doing what you are

Good luck man, get that thing on the dyno with 30psi

There are things to get around taht, like a very high powerband, which will keep stress off of things in the low end, key to longevity of such things like axles and tranny, and will keep wheelspin down. Of course there will still be plenty of wheelspin on hard acceleration, but nothing that cant be dealt with. His goal was 500hp, not a 9 second 500hp car. Yasmin, you achieved 350hp with MINIMAL tuning, fmu and safc, FAR FAR FAR less tuning ability than Chris's strategy. It sounds like somebody is getting a little jelous here. Tell me why he NEEDS a standalone? What, to say that he has it? Sure the fuel tuning based on map would be nice, but, like he said, he will have it just fine with fmu coupled with hp-tuners, and less the 2 grand extra it would cost for a standalone, plus all of the wiring.

Mike Karas used a Motec M4 (Full Standalone) for engine management to reach 400 whp. Just FYI

What is the maximum TQ that the GTZ driveshafts and transmission can take? Just wondering because I dont see alot of 500whp GTZ's out there.
Re: Sweetness: And so it Begins...

No, no 500 whp GTZ's out there but we all DO remember the 11.3 second 2nd gen driven by Frank....

I know what his final dyno #'s were and so I know what the axles can take.

WOW CHRIS YOU REALLY CAN'T GET MUCH LOVE ON HERE HUH.........

I've know Chris since I had my parents drive me to mini meets WAY BACK IN THE DAY and hes been talking about building this little dream, for years even since I known him really.......And you know what IF CHRIS SAYS HES GONNA PUT THOSE NUMBERS DOWN THEN HE WILL.

If you all knew the type of thought that went into the the motor then you would understand..... the selected few that do know what this motor has undergone.

Weeks of waiting FOR CUSTOM DONE PARTS so one off some of the vendors looked at him like he was retarded they had to be filled on to see how they would function with the motor and why. Hes used technology from some serious cars to back his thoughts on this motor.

And alot of time was spent before the build doing calculations with the builder PERSICION CALCUALTION to figure out what exactly needed to be done to achive his goal and make it last a long time.

SO FOR THE HATERS WAIT AND SEE I KNOW WHATS DONE INSIDE THAT THING AND YOUR ALL GONNA HAVE TO PICK YOUR JAWS UP OFF THE FLOOR!!!!!.

As for you Chris IF ANYONE DESERVES TO SEE A CAR RUN AND HIT A CERTAIN NUMBER ITS YOU MY FRIEND...... way to dream big and bring it up to reality.

thanks again have a nice day!!!!!

99 GT FIRE=nutswinger. Just playin.

All I can say is wow. One thing I want to know is, what's the total amount of money that's gone into this build? If you don't want to post it, you can PM me, or if you'd rather no one know, that's cool too. I was just curious. Best of luck and I hope it runs as well as it did/does on paper!

Any dyno charts? Not to be an ass, but there are alot of j-body owners that blow smoke up other people's asses.

Chris and I have talked earlier and as long as he knows he has my full support and all you all @!#$ers do as well, no matter how much jeleous YOU ALL think I AM OF YOU, I can care less what ANYONE else thinks.

I said what I said ealier and he explained me his point of view and I am preaching to the choire because I am the accused one, who doesn't disclose all my trick neither I just never paid attention as to what I do.

Anyways, I really think that there IS NOTHING I can be jeleous of, but a 700 hp Brad Ballards Cobalt or Gardella's 1200 hp car. lol
Puts on a flame suit!! lol

Chris good luck and welcome back, you know why I don't think HP won't work, I told you earlier, I am too lazy to write it all up.
Don't get me wrong you will be one kick ass roll racer, but dig is going to give you problems, and sooner or later we all go back to our roots (track/drag racing)
Rolls are from bakeries, real men DIG!!

Ahh, I didnt remember htat he used a full stand alone, anyways, get back on subject.

Your quite welcome for the ideas/help on the engine build but i still think u should go with a standalone and get it done rite.

Keep up the good work Chris hope all works out well with the setup and you reach your goal of how ever much power you want to make. I am sure anything is doable with enough R&D and enough hard work. Long as you take thing nice and slow and not rush anything, I am sure you will end up being fine with your setup.

Greedy man that is all I can say very Greedy.

This is my fellow JBOers is why we will always fall short of Honda and Mitsu owners and many others because of people and attitudes like this and not wanting to share opinions and things that work.

But you are gonna make the other person spend all the money just cause YOU had to, damn I am totally opposite of that, so sad.

Everyone here is out to make some money or something on us so last thing we need is spending even money on R&d.
I can care less what is done to your motor, oiling is not an issue in my L61 or my LSJ so I don't need a tissue here, but at least don't be a little fairy and PM some that do care, but you are TEAM TOP SECRET AH? lol

Anyways man, you think you got it all figured out on how to make 500-600 whp, but I say you are at least $3000-4000 away from it, given that the motor holds.

Ever driven a 400 whp FWD car?? lol seems like yours is set up so nicely for 600 with no chassis work or anything, anyways I am done here.

At least tell people that wanna know don't be so selfish. At the end of the day never forget you still ONLY DRIVE A SUNFIRE/CAVALIER.

One more rant before I go HP tuners SUCKS ASS, you think you will be able to tune in your car with HP, oh man are you in for a suprise, man you better tell me you are running an AEM or Haltec or something.

I was going to say something along those lines......

so before I do.... don't go poking at my car ad the end of this rant.... I;m talking about you ... and your car.....

Not knocking you just some safety concerns actually.........

anyways,

first off, congrats on the amazing accomplishment....... 500whp will be sweet.....

BUT.....................

your stock chassis,

mostly stock suspension, ( you have poly everything ???? you should with 300+ whp......

stock rear brakes / front brakes...

That is rather dangerous.... as well.....

I'm sure you know this ??

Im sure you noticed you didn't have traction at the "300whp sweetness" mark...........

good luck to you in that aspect............ you have a wheelie bar ??

It wasn't really a rant...... just some safety concerns........................

Good luck

Lee,

For brakes, money has dictated they will go in next year. 4 wheel baer upgrade.

For suspension, every possible upgrade is done that is available as a bolt-on for a J-body short of A-arms.

Also keep in mind I'm running 8" wide rims on a wide offset.

I know my stopping ability is limited.... I don't plan to track it this year into the corners on stock crap.

As for traction.... it's called low boost / high boost. I have that all planned out too we'll see how it works out tho.

Chris,

You can also look into multi stage boost controllers which you can set your boost levels per gear you are in...

Innovative Turbo makes a real nice one you can look into... which I am sure you are well aware of it.

I'm just sitting back and watching the whole project. I don't think there's any reason in the world to argue about things... It's a waste of time. You can sit back and point out things that you think might break or ask if he's researched a particular part, but I see no reason to flame.

The ONLY reason anyone's mad at Chris or flames his dream car at all is because of jealousy... It's his money, his car, his engine, his turbo setup... Everyone should just either sit back and watch or ask questions. Bitching about his estimations is fscking nonsense. J-body (as well as any other online automotive community) is full of greedy bastards and it's a rat race to see who can build a better engine.

Chris has answered EVERYONE's questions about everything except his mods list. And he even explained why he won't give a list! So what is there to bitch about? Maybe he would share a list of mods with us if you guys weren't @!#$s. I personally don't care about what he has done to it. I don't even own a J-body anymore, and probably never will... I went down that road at an earlier stage in my life and I finally realized I pissed a bunch of money away.

you call him out -> he proves you wrong
rinse and repeat

When are you all going to realize that he has EVERY angle covered?

I just wanna see Chris's numbers on the dyno, some videos of him running at the track, and track times.

It's gonna either be awesome or he's gonna be one pissed off guy. Either way, he tried... At least he's not out buying cold air intakes for A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS (yes, some of you are idiots) and gaining 1 whp. But no, he's building something beyond what other people have attempted. And if something breaks, he'll build it stronger. I don't even know Chris that well and I KNOW he just doesn't give up.

Custom parts? If Chris has done all of his research correctly, he's essentially built a whole new engine. Sure, he had the helping hand of STARTING with a pre-made engine, but he found ways to make it better. Have you ever heard anything similar to the phrase "If you find out how to make a better mouse trap, let me know!" This could be that mouse trap. And if you're good to him, he may even let you know.

All in all, grab a bag of popcorn and a beer and sit back and watch. Haters need to stfu and stick to buying bolt-ons.
