Well glad to hear you are doing the evil eyes, as I was very disappointed when I seen the hood in primer without them.
As for how to do them... not sure.
I'd say take metal, lay it out below the hood where the evil eyes would go, grab a permanent marker, mark where it needs cut, cut it out, weld it in, grind down the welds sand in etc...
But I'm probly missing something there
yeah, easier said then done, if you want them to be proper. i have a very very skilled metal fabricator ( and she is a gril, which makes me love her even more) doing the actual fab for me. the trick is to get the roll and flat of the hood to match. anyone can just weld a couple of triangle pieces of metal on there and call 'em evil eyes, and they look ok, but mine need to be right. no bull @!#$. this car will be clean, and fabbed correctly. im not bolting on junk and clallin it "custom". mine will be CUSTOM, and it will be done right and proper. no insults intended to you bolt and go guys, i know some dont have the skills/time/location/motivation, but i do. so FU...lol just kidding, i have nothing but heart, and anyone in the area that needs some help, just pm me. im here and happy to throw some work on your j! hell, i have been in this little club of ours since 2002 i think, and have never said no to a friend in need.
haha...
Im not really a bolt and go guy,
I like to customize parts myself make them one of a kind... just I usually dont get to finishing them haha...
But yeah, good luck with the evil eyes and cant wait to see the progress!
so, i made absolutely no progress on my car yesterday, minus removing all of that really annoying double sided tape from the trim strip. i wound up helping a buddy section a couple of pieces of his 1976 ford pickup truck, so i spent the majority of my shop time welding together metal that he had ground down to paper thin. that, my friends, was deeply annoying. but in the end it came out well, and with a little duraglass and some time, it will look like factory original.
just out of curiosity, has anyone ever noticed that GM misspelled "guages" on the "check guages" light? it lterally says "check gages"....wtf?
So are you doing this at a school or something? It definitely looks like it's being done professionally, keep up the good work and more pics of progress!

" To study and not think is a waste. To think and not study is dangerous. "
I consider myself a professional because i do get paid to paint and do body work on cars, so yes..lol it is being "professionally done"...lol I am going to school at WCC in the ABR and CCC program to get my ASE and I-CAR certifications, as well as an Associates degree from EMU. I have free use for the full body shop at school on sundays, which is the reason i really only get to make any real progress on the car one day a week. I have full time classes during the rest of the week, and by the time i'm done @ work the last thing in the world i want to do is stick around and mess with my own car...lol
im really not trying to change the subject because i do want to keep my progress thread going, but i am sitting here watching "Pinks"...and it just @!#$ing sucks. its not what it was supposed to be. it used to be about literally racing for pink slips. now its just about the most well financed hillbilly with an 8-10 second car. if i wanted to watch that, i would just watch the NHRA nationals. I have lost my love and respect for the show, and whats his name with the arm drop is a douche bag. anyone who nsaw him wreck that motorcycle at 11 mph will agree...lol in all seriously though, its just not what it used to be, and it makes me sad. I know these cats are wrenching the hell out of these cars to make them simply amazing, but its just not what the show was supposed to be about. And now they only run the high 8 to low 10 second cars. i, personally would rather see the kids that are out there killing themselves street racing having a legitimate venue to put their tuners, or muscle cars out on the track for something. They shouldnt even call it pinks anymore. they should call it punks. cause its @!#$e now. no disrespect to anyone who has been on, or who has wrenched on a car that has been on, or has a brother/sister/cousin/uncle/uncle-brother, grandpa-dad, cousin-brother, aunt-mom, or mom-sister that has made it to the show, but "PINKS" it just is not. Its any friday at any run-what-ya-brung track, except the producers decide who wins. sorry. once loved it, now its intolerable. Please correct me if i am wrong, i love to learn from what i do not know, but i have seen the show lately, and its just not a show any more.
Wow I'm impressed. It looks really clean. Maybe smoke the tails a little?

youve probably seen me pulled over by a brighton police officer lol, they seem to really like me....
thanks for the compliment!!!
sorry to post jack op, the progress looks great.
agreed - just didnt know other j's were that close...
Anywho sinner, i would agree with the smoked tails, get those bumpers covers on, maybe loose the detroit muscle sticker... just my .02
nice progress though!!!
Thanks for all the comments guys! The Detroit Muscle sticker is in support of a friends company, but it is fading out and will be going away soon. Deffinately smoking the tails, and gonna finish up the hood (still in that awful yellow primer), add the evil eyes, then on to the front and reak 2k bubper cover swaps. gotta address that rust issue behind drivers door, then suspension rims and tires. then its on to the motor build. That poor 2.2 i have in her has 150k miles on it, but doesnt use a drop of oil. The motor mounts are completely shot tho...lol Any time any of you A2/Brighton guys wanna meet up, let me know. would be nice to get together before the snow flies!
Well, yesterday I decided to start winterizong the car. Upon doing a full coolant flush, i ran into a minor snag. the coolant that came out was VERY VERY rusty, so i flushed it until it ran clear, added new coolant, and did a little test drive around the parking lot, and guess what! BLEW THE FREAKING HEAD GASKET! So here is my new mod, that i will be doing today! YAAAAAAAAY!!!! (stupid ass car):
Sorry for crappy pics, just snapped em with my cell phone.
i am about one more parts failure from scraping the whole thing. Last week I had to do front rotors, and pads. The passenger side rotor pretty much fell apart on me. It was a nightmare.
Well, after a very easy and successful tear down and reassembly, everything came apart quite easily, ans went together just ast fast, I went to start the car. ABSOLUTELY NO SPARK. Decided to go with the simplest thing first, and quickly found out that whan my buddy pulled off my spark-plug wires, he grabbed them by the boot, instead of using the tool, and pulled every clip off from the end of the wire. so the car turned over very very well, just no fire. so it is sitting in the bay, fully assembled, waiting to go, but with no plug wires. which i cannot get until tomorrow. I am more that a little pissed. Here are some lousy camera phone pics of the tear down:
And The Grand Daddy of all Blown Head Gaskets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
questions, comment, criticism...bring it on.

i tried smoking the tails, but i couldnt get them in the bong, and the rolling papers kept tearing....
Well, got the head gasket finished late tuesday/early wednesday morning. Took approx. 6 hours total. Once we got it all back together, i discovered that the clip came off the end of the #4 spark plug wire, so starting it had to be put on hold until yesterday. got the new plug wires on, and it started right up on the first try and was purring like a happy little kitten. Then it started to over heat. A quick test of the thermostat proved that new parts aren't always good parts right out of the box...lol. Popped in another new thermostat, burped the air out of the lines, and she is running better than the day I bought her. Now hopefully I can get back to the body work that has been put on hold by every little minor mechanical issue that could possibly arise. I did make a very nice new purchase today :

That bad little gun shall be making for a very pretty sunfire, when all is said and done!

I would love to paint your car for you, but starting this winter semester, i dont think i am going to have time to do much of anything. Finishing up all my classes for my I-CAR and ASE certifications. Its gonna be a hell of a semester.
