i was wondering how to install a tach by my slef...how hard it would be and how long it might take. i dont want to spend 60$ to get it instald wen i didnt pay anything for it...just woundering..so if u have the answers plz just post somthing
oh i have a 99 z24, manual, the tach is just a smalll 2inch that i want to put on a cluster on the A piller..like were a boost and air fuel ratio gauge weould go..
and so what if i do? could i wir it to that??
i looked under the hood and this is what i found...IGN, BATT 1, BATT 2, ABS, COOLING FAN, BLO, PCM, A/C, ABS/EVO..what about wireing it to the cluster fuse in the fuse panel inside the car??
i thought all z24s came w/ tachs on the cluster?
yes they do come with one on the cluster but more is better...and as well, i would just like to find out how to do it..no one seems to want to help. plzz some one out thee just tell me how i can wire it in so it works.
on the 2.2 the tach will read exactly half because the car makes 1 signal per revolution. most aftermarket if not all are set up for two signals
i am pretty sure the coil packs are the same on 2.4... if so it's the orange wire... rk sports makes a kit that will correct the signal so that your tach will read the correct rpms instead of half

ok thats great. i thank you very much..but one more thing were is this "orange wire" u talk about...?
no the 2.4 you dont need a tach adaptor. the reason you need it for the 2.2 is because of the half signal. just curious, if your car has one, why put another one in. just curious
the more the maryer. so were do i wire it to exsactly? like is it in the dash, under the hood?...were is it exsactly?
i always thought for the 2.4s there was a tach fuse since they came w/ tachs. i have a 2.2 and i had to wire mine into the coilpack
i guess ill have to try and do it in to that. the coil packn that is

99+ 2.4L's don't have a tach fuse, or a tach output on the PCM. They also need the tach adapter since both the 2.2 and 2.4 use a wasted spark ignition system (fires two cylinders at the same time).
Don't know why you are doing that man, you have a tach, you have no idea how many people (including myself) laugh thier asses off at guys who have two tachs, one huge 5" one and a factory one... really don't need more than one, and its not "the more the merrier" since you obviously don't know how tachs work, or how to wire things up, you could end up doing some serious damage to your engine's electrical system.
Just pay to get it installed, either that or you'll probably end up paying to get the electrical system diagnosed later.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
i second the thought of" 2 tachs is RE-GODAMN-DICULUS... Use the extra pod for something productive!
