hey, new to the hole car modding scene, and was wondering the best way to increase my quarter time, I've already looked and doing pace header and 2.5 exhaust the hole thing and install is guna be 1g, was wondering what to do after that without brakeing the bank
header and exhaust should nto cost a grand, ur getting ripped
$1000 for install? lmao

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
the easiest thing would be to fill out your profile so that maybe someone around you can help keep you from getting raped by a mandrel bender, either way fill that out and try to explain why it will cost so much.
is it 1g for the product and then the install too or what?
give me a grand and i'll install your exhaust for you
There is no way that it should cost 1 grand at all. Go to Turbo Tech and order a header, and then go to a local exhaust shop and get the pipping done. That is what I am doing. Waiting for the header to be delivered on Friday, then going to the exhaust shop and haveing it done. I am installing the header myself. Total cost of the exhaust pipping is going to be around $120 -$150, and that includes labor and install. Sorry dude your getting ripped.

why 2.5? i hope you are planning on boosting at some point, because if not then just go with 2.25
Hey Newbies; Dont Search Ebay, i got what you need right here
There's nothing wrong with 2.5". Stop thinking it's bad because it's not. You just move the powerband higher.

k, sorry for the confusion, I'm getting the header for $230 and ceramic for $200, and the 2.5 exhust for $550 plus $100 for the install. so for everything inc install it's $1080, I meant the hole package for a 1G. I have a reactive CAI and I just grabbed a 60mm TB off of a 2.4L grand am, anyone have a how to for this I'm ordering the 2.4HO header from manapart, or will I have to mod with the new intake??? nothing like hitting the ground running
Don't order from Mantapart. Also, there's no such thing as a 2.4 Ho. It's just a 2.4 header.
550$ for the exhaust is way too high. I bought a bunch of U bend 2.5" mendrel at NAPA and it cost me 125$. You had welding and it CAN'T be over 300$.

I don't know anyone with pipe benders/ have never used them before/ don't know a welder yet either, I have just moved to Calgary I really don't know many ppl here yet. so if a guy what to buy a bunch of U bend where would I get a bender from can you rent them somewhere?? how much did your muff cost and tip and cat??? Is $550 really that bad? that was everything pipe muffs, cat, and tips. Have a complete 2.3HO sitting in junkyard so I grabbed the intake, where can I grab an adapter plate for the HO intake swap?? will I have to mod the TB I grabbed much after I put the intake on??

Dude your still getting ripped off. Where I am at, it is a total of about $150, for the mandrel tubing and install.

thanks, I didn't think that it was all that bad I had asked around the city and everyone seemed to think that was normal but none of them have probably done it themselves, what about the header is $430 bad for a ceramic pacesetter header?? so what about switching in the HO intake off a GTZ and the 60mm TB off of a grand am, I read I need an adapter plate for the intake?? anyone know where I can get one, or if I don't need one anyone have a better how to

and if I put in the new intake will I have to mod the TB or will the TB be ok the way it is
yeah 430$ is freakin expensive. The pacesetter header coated is 225$ US witch is less than 300$ canadian.
Also, Napa have the mandrel bend U bend.

so what about the intake do you acutally need the adapter or can it be done without it?? it seems I've missed the GP for the adapter plates. Is it a gasket prob, that why the adapter is needed??
It has nothing to do with the gasket.
You don't "NEED" the adapter plate that Chris Fontana sells, but there currently is no better way to get the H.O. manifold to flow as well as his phenolic flanges allow. What people did in the past was to try and port match the intake to the head, which still wasn't as accurate.
Also...just in case you weren't aware... unless that grand am had an aftermarket or 2.3L throttle body, it will be the same as your stock 52mm TB. If it is a 2.4L TB, then the two holes that mount the TB to the intake have to be enlarged a little to accommodate the larger diameter bolts (I think they are 10mm).
You also have to match the 2 sets of 2 mounting holes on the manifold to the flange, along with the far left hole.
Two 2.3L intake gaskets are needed if you use the phenolic flange. One is left as is, and the other just needs to be modified a little to match the head-side of the flange. I remember I also cut off the end of the alternator bolt cause it kept getting in the way of the extension on the ratchet when I went to bolt the manifold to the head.
I'm sure I made the swap sound harder than it is...but with the exception of rerouting some hoses and plugging some holes...thats really all there is to it.
One last thing,
You can tell if the TB is 60mm by installing it on the H.O. manifold. With the butterfly open, check to see if the TB overlaps the opening of the manifold where you can see the flat surface of the manifold around the edges of the TB. If it does then it is 60mm, and you should port match the manifold till you can't see the edges. If you don't see any of the manifold, then you don't have a 60mm and don't have to worry about doing that.

Try going to Carline Muffler on in the NE, you might get a better price from them.
