Just signed up looking for an answer

Hello all,
I am doing a 2.4/5 speed swap into a 98 sunfire with a 95 2.2/3spd auto (I dunno. i bought it that way). Anyhow. The 2.4/5spd is coming from my 97Sunfire that my brother wrecked (slid into a tree with the passenger door and the cops and such cut the roof off my car for no good reason....). My question is. can one remove the engine/trans out the bottom of the car along with the steering (front wheels and all) if you remove the subframe and remove the shocks? or does it have to come out of the top? Just trying to figure out the easiest way to remove the setup, as I really do not want to have to remove the CV axels in order to get the thing out.

On a positive note.. at least I have a fully complete donor car.. well most of it is in my garage now lol..

Your swapping the whole engine and tranny or just the tranny?

I will be swapping both the 2.4L engine and the 5 spd tranny as one unit.. I really hate the 2.2/3spd.... ug a moped has more go...

So basically my plan of disconnecting the wire harness and hoses and then the shocks and the subframe would indeed work then?

actually, take this for what it's worth (note the source) both my haynes and chilton manuals say that is the way to do it.
