This may be a stupid ? But is the ecotec in a saturn like around the 2000-2002 range the same? Just got a good deal on one for a spare so just wondering if the engine will run off an 04 pcm

I used an Ecotec from a 05 Saturn Ion in my 05 Cavalier with only a few changes (mounts, intake cam, and an extra water outlet to plug). It really depends on what year exactly the "spare" motor is coming from.

Like said, subtle difference, but yes it can be used. Swap intake can and oil pan and you're pretty much good to go. I'd assume the extra water outlet is on the thermostat housing, in which case you can swap housings too.

I know old thread but I too can get a heck of a deal for a 2.2 ecotec from a 2004 Saturn as a spare motor for our dirt track 04 cavalier. Will they interchange without any modifications?
