Wrecked 2000 Civic- $30k in mods
Monday, January 24, 2005 12:31 PM
I know it's not a j-body, but this is a picture of my buddy's 2000 Civic EX. He's been working on it since it's brand new, with receipts showing about $30,000 in modifications. B18 swap, molded kit, candy paint (stripes are paint too), custom interior, you name it, its got it. My brother was driving it, along with the owner and me in the car, and he lost control and slid into a metal gate. None of us were really hurt. The insurance would only cover so much, so my brother bought the car after the insurance paid their part. Hopefully we can get it back to the way it was soon.

Sorry about the pic quality, they were taken by a regular camera and I scanned them in...

it's funny you ask, my friend worked on it for 5 years and doesn't have a single picture of it. it was incredible! it only has 18,000 miles on it. when my brother actually buys the car, i'll post pics of the shaved trunk and custom interior. this car was definately "top flight" quality.
Is your brother doing anything to help with the amount of money your friend lost? Is he paying alot for the wrecked car to make up for the loss?
Yes. between the insurance money and what my brother is paying, my buddy is being fully compensated. he's actually in the process of buying an '05 RSX now. he was totally cool too, never lost his temper once-not even at the accident scene.
I am not seeing thirty thousand in mods on that car. unless there is a killer stereo setup in that car and a corvette like suspension mounted up under there (which I highky doubt). I wouldnt even believe 20 thousand in mods. There isnt even a turbo setup on that car. Honda parts are made by everyone from apexi to zex and are so cheap now-days. Maybe I would believe 30,000 with price of car included but thats about it.

Well, it's not my car, and I'm not here to impress anyone---so I don't really give a rats @ss what you doubt. I know the paint and body work was $9000, and the motor/trans were about $4500 for instance...

9 grand on that paint job? I would have to see pics of car before hand to believe that. 4500 on engine and tranny? thats a little much but believable for a GSR. I am glad to hear everyone was alright though.

that's what i was told...i know the drivetrain was from hmotorsonline.com. the kit is molded and the trunk is shaved with a plate box. that's about all i know about it.

ill beleave that price on a GSR motor and tranny.. i paid 4950.00 for my b18c5. that didnt include the upgraded ECU or any of the needed bolt ons for a swap.. but now that i think about it, i have to agree, honda parts are cheap, and if it had 30,000 on mods and it is still naturally asp., it should have one hella interior and system

People like you really piss me off. You're living in a time where people still had brand loyalty. Chevy people wouldn't drive a "Found On Road Dead" and some people would rather "push a Ford than drive a Chevy". Unfortunately for you, the rest of us in the 21st century are focused on our segment of cars rather than one particular brand. I realize this is j-body.org, but anyone who is seriously into the sport compact scene can appreciate other cars (and has probably owned them, too). If you would've even read the initial post, you would've seen that I actually haven't spent any money since IT'S NOT MY CAR. What do you spend your money on that's so much better than this car? In fact, e-mail me pictures of your car to tracker093@hotmail.com and prove to me why you deserve to add unnecessary BS to my thread.

Billy G, the car does have a full custom interior with Corbeau seats. As I said before, the $30k estimate is what I'm going off of from the kid who used to own it.

I know that car. He's from Hazleton and I graduated with him. The car most definately has $30K in mods. The car was fast as balls and looked great and its a shame that it got wrecked.
