Hey guys, I recently purchased a 02 VW GTI turbo and i have just a few questions.....
how much boost does it have stock and how much do you think I can go without doing any exhaust mods (I still want to keep its drivability without attracting unwanted attention) i was thinking about doing this: chip, BOV, CAI, MBC what do you think
Does anyone know about the DV setup and I have been reading around and people say that if you put a BOV your run rich due to the disabled DV is that true
and ^^^^^^ if i get it chipped do you think that would take care of the running rich thing
i post on VW vortex but no one ever gives me a straight answer
thanks guys

PPPSSSS!!!! MMMMMmmmMMM boost=yummy
it comes with the 5 speed auto tiptronic cause i also heard that the auto tranny vs the manual tranny is only like .3 to .4 sec diff in the 1/4 so i went with the convenience

Try looking on the 18t forums. Thats where i got a lot of info on for my wifes jetta1.8t. Lots of little mods that you can do. Her jeta has the tiptronic. Not a bad deal there. Good luck

You need to use a diverter valve, otherwise the computer turns the boost way down, and i think stock boost is somewhere in the 14 range, didnt research it jsut a number I recall. They have some nice diverter valves, and if you dont want to attract attention then you dont want a bov....esp a RFL BOV.......
talk to jersey jay with the 1.8T. he drives a beetle and i think hes running low 13s. i believe VW uses the same 1.8T in the jetta, passat, gti, etc
FrankZ22 on here also knows his VW stuff.

02 should run anywhere from 10-13 psi stock i believe.... boost will taper off toward redline because the stock turbo is too small to keep up
Just get a Diverter Valve and call it a day.... Forge, GoFastBits, TurboXS has one that plumbs into the intake (no air horn). if you're concerned enough not to want too much attention than a BOV isn't the way to go anyway, and it will most likely throw emission codes.
Getting chipped will not solve the BOV check engine lights.
No one gave you a straight answer on vortex if you asked these questions because the answers are easily found with that handy search button at the top right corner of the forum, and people get tired of newbies asking the same questions all the time.

Read this with lots of good info:

BOV= Bad idea, throw codes as Jersey Jay mentioned
DV = uber better
CHIP= GIAC, REVO, APR (I heart GIAC)
MBC= You can do with a chip to avoid boost spikes
Stock boost on 150hp models 7psi peak
Stock boost on 180hp modesl 10psi peak
