are you that ignorant? the fit is quite obviously a very small car meant for families and city life. there are no sporty intentions.... it is not a sport compact... it is competing with other small cars like the toyota echo/now yaris.
looks more like an aveo with different headlights to me

Yep.
Add Aveo, Scion, (possible Nissan Cube) into the mix too.

thats like saying the mazda5 looks exactly like a ford tribute... they are clearly not quite the same.
JimmyZ wrote:Also, for a company that claims to be so "plugged in" to the sport compact market, I don't see how Honda thinks they'll be able to get anywhere with a 109HP engine in a car that size.
its not a sport compact... so what does this have to do with anything?
the car is tiny..and marketed towards people that want a frugal car with useable interior space and good fuel economy. 109hp is enough to move the car around... i think you have completely missed the point of this vehicle.
JimmyZ wrote:Of course, it wont be long till the body kits and everything will be available so everyone can THINK they're fast.
.
again i dont think my grandmother will be buying a bodykit for this car... she will however enjoy driving her bingo friends around.
clearly you do not understand the market for this car.
i think its more of a aveo than a matrix/vibe
Long lost friend asks, "So, what kind of car do you drive?"
"A Fit." you replied a few seconds later
....awkward silence
"Fit what?" exclaimed the friend.
I drive a Honda Fit." you replied
".....Oh? I guess old antiques are still around then huh?" your friend says with a soft voice
you shout outlod, "NO YOU &@#$ING IDIOT, IT'S A NEW CAR, A HONDA FIT!!!!"
ok that was kinda worthless, but I am so very bored, and humoured myself

damn, it already has a nasty looking aftermarket following for body kits.

Looks like a scaled down Odyssey:
Our Odyssey:
The last gen Civic SI looked like the Odyssey.
This one looks like another aveo/wave/yaris clone that, when combined with toy poodles, is best suited for fish bait.
Econoboxes are fine, and they're what really gave the Sport Compact hobby its real push, but these are starting to push the limit.
If it's not network news, it's probably the truth getting out.

^^^^^ Thats very true.

looks like a small car with lots of room inside to me..... damn them for marketing casr to people in crowded cities. I've never heard of someone that gas milage and things other than speed appeal to either... what were they thinking?

Oh and I'm sure the name has nothing to do with its size, they called it the Fit because "Mustang Cobra R" was taken.

Exactly.
My parents own an Aveo, and the thing may be ugly, but it is VERY roomy inside and gets pretty dang good gas mileage. I'm sure my parents, and most of the other Aveo/Fit/Little tiny car owners are so upset about their tiny 100hp engines and the loads of money they save on gas.
But that still doesnt change the fact that theres already suport for "tuning" it. Thats the only thing I have against it. Im sure itll be a more than decent honda product.

So? People mod every single car that was ever made. It's not like it'll ever stop. To sit here and say stupid things about a car becuase it has support to modding it is stupid.
The fit is nothing new, its been out in japan for quite some time so I wouldnt quite call what honda's doing a "follow the leader" by MAKING this car. I would however agree it is follow the leader by bringing it here. Thanks to the scion regridgerator I think we'll be seeing a lot more of these super tiny gay mini-van things since they seem to be a hit (why I dont know). Personally I think they're stupid. I have seen pics of fits in japan with mugen body kits and all that jazz, some had rims on them and i think the rims were like 13"
I know over in japan chevy had something like that, it looked just like an astro van but the size of a geo.
