Jeep Liberty Limited??
Tuesday, January 24, 2006 9:35 AM
Hey guys, it is time to give back my Dodge 1500 4x4 pickup. I must say thank god caue the gas. Anyways I just put an order in for a new 2006 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4. Now I mean I drove everything even some high end cars like bmw's and nissan's. But I couldn't justify putting a huge down payment down on them cause I lease 3 years at a time. So decided to go with something that still had the 4x4 on it and was fully loaded to the max, which actually had twice the stuff on it then these more expensive cars and my payment is half the price. Now I know it may not be built as good as them but I only lease for 3 years and the lease rates are great when you already own a dodge and no downpayment pull ahead was nice. My Jeep Limited is basically the grand cheerokee shrunk down because I have all the chrome, blue tooth, infinity sound, chrome wheels, leather, gps/navagation and the whole bit. It came out to $42,500.00 here in Canada. I am looking forward to getting this since it will be a little better on gas then my truck and it is fully loaded with luxury inside. I am going silver so it looks good with the chrome wheels and chrom body moldings. I am just interested if any of you guys have one and if you like them or not?? Thanks for any help guys.

-Chris

Don't ever take it off road, the tires are just horrible. My buddy is a manager for a jeep dealership and we took his out on some trails, it couldn't get up any of the muddy hills that even a stock 95 gmc jimmy got up. They are nice tho, but to take offroad get some better tires.

I despise the KJ for replacing the Cherokee. It has less
cargo space, slower acceleration, worst braking (at least
I know the earlier rear drum models had worst braking)
than the outgoing XJ. It's also far less capable off road,
and its fuel economy isn't any better then the XJ. Maybe
if you leased the CRD Diesel model than I might have a
slightly more favourable opinion (because its, at least,
more fuel efficient).

Better City Jeeps are in the pipeline. Like the Compass
or the Patriot. The Liberty is a total soccer-mom mobile.

Hey Chris how you doing? Long time no talk man! Anyways i have a 2003 Jeep Liberty Renegade if you remember.....and its still going strong but it loves to eat gas! I dunno if they changed anything but if its anything like mine your gonna get about 13 miles per gallon in the city. I was told it was going to get 17, ive never seen that number with my jeep. I cant say how good it is offroad cuz i never took it out. But regardless, im happy with my purchase its a nice daily driver for me.

By the way hit me up on messenger some day

I never plan on taking it off roaded, I would have bought a different jeep. You can tell it is not ment for that, specially thelimited. The limited is just a high end mid size suv used for regular driving and the 4x4 is there if it snows. That is all I will do with it. With the chrome wheels I would never think of going on trails or off roading with it. Also the gas will be better then my dodge 1500 4x4.

Although you guys knock the offroading aspect of this jeep, it is by far the best rated offroading vehicle in its class!

Hey Marco long time now see. Ya my msn messenger seems to mess up on me all the time. I think probably a virus. Anyways glad to hear you like the jeep. I have heard the gas is not that good on it but it will diffently be better then my v8 in my 1500. lol. I just wanted something luxury inside that was fully loaded and still had the 4x4 and towing package. I was going to get a nissan maxima but that ment a big down payment and bigger monthly payments which I decided not to do now that I have a new house and plan on putting a pool in this summer. So the jeep was the pick. It diffently has the best lease rate right now with me already owning a dodge truck so I get a no down payment for returning my truck and sticking with them. Which is nice since the jeep limited is $42,500 which would usually mean a high payment or lots of money down. I got on the employee discount again and it worked out the payments are cheaper then my truck and the jeep has 10times the stuff on it. So ya I am pretty happy. The dealership just called and told me tho they are having trouble finding a silver limited fully loaded so hopefully the find one in the next few days cause I get it next tuesday. I really don't want to have to go to black. That is my last resource. Black does look good with all the chrome wheels and stuff but I had a black car and ended up painted it white cause I couldn't take it.

the liberty in no way is "more" off roadable than a Suzuki XL-7/Vitara which is built like how the Liberty should have been. Body on ladder frame, with 4WD like the Cherokee was. show me where it's proven to be more off-roadible than the suzuki rigs...I'll buy it will out trail the Corolla based RAV4, Mazda 626 based Tribute/Escape and Civic based CRV. But the Suzuki's are in fact fully functional, trailable 4WDtrucks...not lifted AWD cars.

The Liberty as a functional day-to-day SUV, is not bad. very comfortable, plenty of space, and offers great all season driving. if that's all you want you've picked well. the mpg will suck, that much is true...but if your coming off a RAM 1500, this will fell like a hybird compared to that monster. But if your looking for a lean mean off-road machine, you picked...unwise. All that's left out there for brand new (for true off-roading) is the wrangler, and suzuki trucks. Even the Toyota Tacoma is getting more pretty and less rugged and useful.

I hope your not refering to this suzuki?

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/suv/112_0404_suvs/

cuz it comes in last place against the jeep and kia for on road and off road testing

Re: Jeep Liberty Limited??

oh crap i forgot the sorrento...also a great truck framed reall 4x4. that one is a little newer i always forget that one. It has awesome ground clearance so i would believe it would out gun a suzuki on that test.

but tell me this how well did it stack compared to to car based SUV's i mentioned..i only asked because i said i believe that I'd buy that the Liberty will out trail the Corolla based RAV4, Mazda 626 based Tribute/Escape and Civic based CRV. and mentioned that in no way was the liberty "more" off roadable than a truck based SUV like the Cherokee or Vitara. and that much is still true. I don't see in that test where the Liberty decimated the Suzuki truck in off road capability. and even so if you were going to use it for serious off roading how are you going to lift the uni-bodied liberty for better ground clearance without damaging your uni-body?

update: ..."if your looking for a lean mean off-road machine, you picked...unwise. All that's left out there for brand new (for true off-roading) is the wrangler, "Kia Sorrento" and suzuki trucks.

i apologize if i said it was THE BEST....sometimes my ego gets the best of me, but its no slouch either.

im sure there is better out there if we looked enough. I just dont get why ppl rag on the liberty for its ability. Out of 10 reviews at least 9 said its true to its jeep name.

Also, at the time i did buy my jeep (2003) it was named top small suv. That was one of the reasons i bought it. I also do i have a Renegade so its a bit better trail rated than the regular one.

whoops forgot this part, go to page 11 on that review

quote "It wasn't until we hit the off-road park that a clear winner emerged from the dust. If you're looking for a genuine sport/utility in the purest sense of the universally overapplied term, there remains one clear choice among this trio. The Jeep Liberty can proudly wear the family crest, showing off its circular headlamps, seven-slat grille, and a "can do!" attitude."

Re: Jeep Liberty Limited??
Wednesday, January 25, 2006 5:35 PM

I said it before and I'll say it again; the liberty is the "worst jeep ever"
If, you're looking for an offroad capable suv.. look elsewhere
if you're looking for a luxury city suv ... look elsewhere.

and no wonder its such a whore on gas... its got 700lbs on my XJ.

And speaking of luxury and older Jeeps. I bought a used 2001 XJ
classic and I installed heated leather seats, real bi-xenons, a
fairly nice infinity perfect/ alpine audio system, etc... I can assure
you the price tag came well under half of your liberty's 42,000cdn
pricetag and I'm lacking NOTHING in the jeep luxury department.
I had everything installed to oem spec (translation. nothing sticks
out like a soar thumb), and I can gloat that I own real Jeep. I'm not
bragging: I'm just sayin if you want a luxury city suv... look some
where else.

No trust me I did not buy it for off-roading lol. I am an engineer that works the 8:30 to 4:30 5 days a week, wear business clothes and sit at my desk reviewing and designing plans most of the time. So you can see I have no desire to go off-roading. I know the Jeep isen't the best. I was going to get a 2006 nissan Morando or how ever you spell it. I loved that but I didn't see the point of putting 5,000.00 down for that when I didn't have to and the jeep limited actually had more stuff inside it then the model of Morando I was looking at. Plus I can turn my truck in early which I am dying to do so it worked out best for me. Plus if I wanted to go off roading I would have got the limited because the limited is geared towards the Jeep Grand Cheerokee shrunk down for class not off roading. I would have got the renegade then. The only time i will be using the 4x4 is when it snows out. Trust me guys I was set on getting the Nissan Maxima or a bmw 330xi but the down payment and stuff for a lease is money you don't get back if you always turn it back in so it just didn't justify going that way. So pick it up on Monday and really look forward to it. I will let you guys know how it is.

Marco- yes I still have my Cavalier. I just bought a new house before Christmas so it's in the garage. I am getting married this year so I have lots on the go. I could have sold the car last year a couple of times but I think I made excuses not to let it go. But this year it is going for sure since I want to drop a pool in and I am more into spending on my house now. This also is what descided the jeep.

Re: Jeep Liberty Limited??

I can understand your lease obligations, window of opportunity
to bail out of your current lease, and the initial cost of leasing a
luxury brand. Having said that, I think if you're set on a liberty,
than you should opt for the 2.8L CRD diesel. 160 horsepower
and 295 lb/ft of torque under 2000rpm is simply insane. Getting
the fuel economy of a 4cyl SUV is hard to argue as well. I mean
seriously, the 3.7L/ liberty package is an ecological disaster; it
gets worst fuel economy than all GM 5.7L V8s, and even worst
fuel economy than the new 7.0L corvette Z06.

Re: Jeep Liberty Limited??

Nah I would never buy a diesel unless it was a big heavy truck. Diesel is too noisy and I hate having to worry about finding a diesel station when out of town. I am not worried about the gas, it will be better then the truck and that is all that matters. I only have to drive like 4 blocks too work so I don't even drive that much. Its just like when I bought my big dodge I knew gas was going to be high and didn't care. Just like most people that buy big suvs or trucks, they know the gas is high so they don't even worry about it. So with this Jeep the gas will be a little bit better then my truck but still I am not worried about the gas bill one little bit. I could actually careless since gas money is not an issure for me.

Chris Collins wrote: Diesel is too noisy

Wrong, Not the CRD in the liberty. Go listen to it, and it doesn't even smell like a big truck. I took a training class on them when I was a jeep salesman. The 6spd manual CRD liberty in 4wd got a fully load tractor trailer rolling enough for it to be jump started across the six flags parking lot. That would be the only liberty I would buy.

Still a Diesel and I don't want one. Where I live not that many gas stations have diesel. There are only a select few. I would rather not have to look for one when I go away either, I like to be able to pull into any gas station and know I can get fuel. Like I said I don't care about the fuel. lol That is the last reason why I bought this. I just don't care for diesel what so ever.

have the liberty in your driveway yet, so you don't
have any photos to post.
