i believe viper sells a basic keyless/remote start system

you will need the passlock by-pass module for it (or any remote start)

Let's just say GM cars with Passlock are kind of a pain in the ass to install remote starters on. I had one on my Cav and the damn Passlock bypass worked sometimes and not others, so the computer would cut the gas flow and I would have to wait 5 minutes to start the car. My mom's '04 Grand Prix has a starter installed on it as well and her car does goofy stuff too. I have come to the conclusion that late model GM cars don't like remote starters.

Oh yeah each of the above mentioned starters were professionally installed.

i just put a remote starter in my cav, and everything went on without a hitch. it was time consuming (over 3 hours total, but even that was mostly because of where i mounted it), but it wasn't very hard. there are lists everywhere on the internet that have what color wires you need to hook into. i bought mine from Advance Auto, because I work there and get a discount (link to the starter i bought... part #23927; FYI - at my store they are priced at $90). i also bought a universal bypass module, but it is easier (though more expensive in my case) to just use a #555LW bypass module (link for that). seriously, i'm not an electronics expert by any stretch of the imagination, and i thought it was simple
