ok so my brother pretty much killed the motor in his 96 ford escort 19. ltr auto. has any one ever swapped an escort motor? im assuming its going to be about the same as a j-body (ive done one) we need to swap the tranny too. is there anything that might make it harder then a cavalier, besides it being a ford. he really cant afford a new car so we need to do the swap.
thanks guys.
oh yea, we are just going to be swaping the factory 1.9 ltr for another factory 1.9 ltr. where not gonna try and stuff a V8 in it or anything

its a piece of cake. the ford 1.9 is a fairly easy engine to work with. my friend has a '91 gt w/ the high output motor in it (5 speed) and i yanked the motor, dropped the new one in and had it running perfect in 11 straight hours
People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......
i say dump a 2.2L turbo probe motor in it............found one on carparts.com for 150 bucks with 100k miles.........same site and you can get manual tranny, computer and wiring harness for an extra 200 bucks
350 bucks for a fast car and in an escort no one would know

PPPSSSS!!!! MMMMMmmmMMM boost=yummy

look for either the BPT or the B6T. i cant remember what its called. ford=mazda. its a 1.8/1.6 turbo. makes around 180hp
Mazda 323 GTX. 1.8 DOHC turbo. It's the same engine (essentially) that's in the Miata but in a FWD or AWD platform, depending on the model.

Good luck finding a 323 GTX. There aren't many of them around in North America. If you want a complete motor you're gonna need to go to an importer and get one from Japan or maybe the UK.
