My brother has one of these....4x4 1.8L with about 150,000 on it.....all of the sudden its gettin about 15 mpg and even a bigger turd than it usually is. No codes and its been hooked up to a scanner with no malfunctions. Timing belt was replaced about 5000 miles ago but ran fine after replacing it. What else could it be? I was thinking maybe a pluged converter. Any input appreciated!
Fuel Filter, Bad Plugs. Try those yet ?

I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
oil changed recently, low tire pressure? just tossing out the obvious ones that may have been overlooked.

i'd help you but since it's such a "turd" why bother.

Well since it has the same motor as my 95 geo prism, I bet you its either the cat or bad O2 sensor. Mine never threw a code when both went bad. I got around 12 miles per gallon when it happened.
Code did show up on one very good scanner.

Um, wrong.
not even close, your prism is a Toyota the Tracker is a Suzuki. The only thing they share is displacement size (1.8) otheriwse they are two completely different car makers and two completely different engines. thank you try again.

lmao... what a @!#$.
It is possible that the timing jumped & retarded a tooth but you will notice a drop in performance. If you have a cloged cat or clog fuel filter these will cause you to run lean. You could check O2 voltage.. check plugs, check wires for arching, check insode of distributor for arching, check fuel pressure since its possible for it to be having a leaking injector, check ditributor timing, cheak for a sticking fuel pressure regulator..
^^If you still have a problem after all that, take it to a shop.
