Well, we had an offer from a dealership to trade in my fiance's 05 Vibe, and they are going to pay it off for her in exhange for this S10 she wants. She's getting an awesome deal on it and im surprised they are giving her the full value of the Vibe.
But anyway, its a 2001 Extreme, Black with silverstripes, Vortec V6 automatic, 80,000 miles. Does $11,000 sound like a good deal? I may try to talk the guy down on it to maybe $10,000 but we'll see.
Also, I plan on looking the truck over real good, but what main things should I look for on these?

my buddy paid 11 grand for his 01 extreme, it only had the 4 cylinder in it though, 40,xxx miles, ss front end, tonnue cover, wing, and clear tail,
You could probably get it for 10,000. Theres a guy sellin his around where i live for 10,000 and it only has 30,000miles on it.

actually i was wrong, it only has 68,000 miles, and were definitly going to go for $10,000

well i just traded in my s10 for my trailblazer ss and retail when i looked it up on KBB and edmunds and nada said my truck would go for anywhere from 5000-9200. Now keep in mind that is for a 2000 xtreme with 62,000miles 5 speed single cab stepside bed.
I got 5,900 for it as a trade in. Which is what i wanted thats what i owed on it plus it was beat in spots, scratches around the bed and what not.
IMO trading in an 05 vibe for an 01 s-10 is just a bad I idea. I have always been taught to never trade something new for something used.Unless you can't afford what you have and need something less expensive.

Still why not get something newer? I am not trying to bust your balls or anything. It just doesn't seem right to trade in 05 for an 01. I mean if she wants a truck I would look at the colorado. I mean just look at Geeds. That is something i would trade in an 05 for.
Ive driven S10s... They arent very exciting to drive.
my 5 speed xtreme v6 was fun to drive, hugged corners and was fun to drift around in.

If I am not mistaken, I thought I have seen you post that you are gonna get married in the future. A Vibe would be more reasonable for moving, grocery getting, kids, ect. Plus it will have a higher resale value.
The fun aspect is not my only reasoning behind it. I was trying to get a lower payment each month. I considered a few different options, and I have seen a few s10's a little cheaper however they are all at mom and pop shops who are not willing to make a deal with a trade. I think 10000 is reasonable with them also paying off my vibe, plus another 1300-1600 check that I will get to go toward the truck because of the warranty on the vibe. I test drove it today and I like it a lot. Anyone have any specs on them, like gas mileage and so forth?

yeah, we are getting married when we are done with school, so were looking at about a year. I'm buying a GTP soon so that will be my "family car"
are you sure there not going to take and when they "pay off" your vibe, just acutally add it onto what they charge you for the X-treme? i know that what they usually do....and i see it late enough, did you get it? i just got a 95 S10 with a 5 inch front and 7 inch rear drop today actually, im loving it so far.
vortech motors are goos too...i donno about the newer ones but the old 4.3's loved to consume oil...be it leak or just burning it up
if u do this PLEASE doubel tripple check your loan.
they will ALWAYS try to say they are "paying" your car off. and they DO. however, they pay the car off, by starting a NEW loan for your new car PLUS the remainder of the trade in.
so basically ull have the s10 price plus a part of the vibe loan added on.
