I've got a 96 Lumina with rear drum brakes. I'm going to replace the shoes and linings, but it has some type of single spring design that I've never seen before. I guess theres a special tool that you use to take the pressure off of the spring, but I don't have one. Can somebody that has done these before give me some tips?
You can't outrun the radio.
I've got a Chilton's, but it doesn't say much about it. Anyway, I got the brakes on anyway. The problem is that it still feels like they're dragging. When I come to a complete stop and accelerate it feels like something is holding my car back for the first 5-10 mph. Sometimes it's bad, sometimes not so bad. Has anybody ran into this problem with drum brakes before?
