those Hummer commercials give people the wrong idea. that H2 in the beginning that broke its axle over nothing just shows that they suck. i cant belive that the H1 couldnt even get over the rock mound. i like GM and all, but if you are going offroad why wouldnt you take a Jeep??
yes the wall climb was very sick. i was waiting for the Hummer to try it and then flip backwards
Hummers suck to work on too.
Ahhh i hate haveing to let the video buffer 40 times from beginning to end
not so much a versus vid, but more like a "make fun of the hummer" video..
The humvee was purpose built for the military. It wasn't buit to climb trees(but neither was your jeep)..Wheelbase is a killer, I will say that much tho.
on a side note, if jeeps were sooooo good, how come the humvee replaced them ? =)

the humvee replace the jeep, cause lets face it you can mount some very heavy artliary(sp) to a humvee. Also yes the humvee was built for the military the H2 not so. But the fact that many H2 owners think that just cause there H2 carries the hummer name that they are off road gods.

well thats the misconception people get when they see the commercials of it running through the snow and climbing mountains.
simply put.
the ONLY Hummer worth a damn on any trail is an H1. period. And even those are a little too big to take out on a trail. other wise it's all about "short" wheelbase and short overhang 4WD's. Jeep Wranglers, CJ's and Suzuki Trucks own the trails.

i want a jeep
or a hummer
Two wrongs don't make a right. Unless you're Chuck Norris.
Then two wrongs make a roundhouse kick to the face.
I was in my boss's h2 when me and his son pulled a jeep out of a river. They don't say anything about that though. The jeep floated away after he barely got into the water and we saved his precious jeep.
And look at the tire/suspension combos on those jeeps. You don't see anything like those on most of those hummers.
Its all about what you use it for. There are places that my Jeep would walk all over hummers but there are also places that a hummer (H1) would walk all over me!
They were not made to climb rock walls or anything so half the comparisons are worthless. Apples and oranges....
I want a Hummer (not the vehicle).
I love the H1's. Not a big fan on the H2's / H3's.
Have a good one,
Justin
my only comments on this...
the video shows a bunch of stock hummers with idiots driving them going nowhere while a bunch of modified jeeps with decent drivers walk all over them. that is like putting a twelve year old in the driver's seat of a stock lx civic and having him drag race a built and boosted cavalier with an experienced driver.
if the guys in the hummers knew what they were doing, i'm sure the hummer's would do a bit better than they did in the video. also, i doubt that a stock jeep could do alot of the things the modded jeeps in that vid were doing.
don't get me wrong... i love jeeps (i've wanted a cj/tj/yj for as long as i can remember and almost bought an xj for winter/daily driving duty) but i think Hummer deserves a bit more credit than most jeep owners are willing to admit. granted the H2 is more of a status symbol than an offroader, but the H1 is a fairly capable vehicle.

interesting.
is it not stock mummers in the commercials bounding across tundra, through the woods and over everything? the fakest thing i've see or heard from Jeep is "Trail Rated" otherwise their commercials are pretty straight forward.

i'm not saying that gm is right in their advertising of the H2 (i've never seen any ads for the H1). I also stated that the H2 is more of a status symbol than an offroader. The H1 deserves some credit though.
the commercials i've seen aren't computer generated so the H2 must be capable of something... maybe people just don't post vids of capable people offroading in H2's
Thank god someone else noticed that. They put stock or close to stock hummers up against heavily modded suspension jeeps. Of course the jeep will look better.
They each have their own niche. Not saying one is better than the other though.

you sound surprised at the lack of truth in advertising
Again it is all about what you are doing... An H1 will go through thick brush alot better than my Jeep, but my Jeep with go crawling up and down rocker better than an H1...
