General Motors' Lansing (Mich.) Craft Centre produced its last Chevrolet SSR on Friday, March 17. An estimated 24,150 SSRs were built during the three-year production run.
The plant built its first vehicle, the Buick Reatta, in 1987. The Cadillac Eldorado, Chevrolet Cavalier convertible and Pontiac Sunfire convertible also have been built there. Another notable vehicle built at the plant was GM's electric car, the EV1.

Hate to say it, but i dont think itll be terribly missed.

"Custom cars, custom problems."-me
I personally liked it. too bad looks like i am just going to have to wait 20 years and get one cheap to restore.
My ex-g/f LOVES the SSR. She thinks it is the greatest looking car/truck ever built . . . Then she cries when she sees the price . . .
I won't miss it. It may look unique, but they want too much for it, and it doesn't look all that appealing.
I think if maybe they could have lowered the engine output, and sold it for about 25K it would have been super popular, but for the price there were many many many more worthwhile cars, trucks and SUV;s
The SSR is gonna be one highly sought-after vehicle in a couple of years, mark my words. If In could afford one id buy one right now and keep it. this is one of those cars that increase in value, not decrease. at least I think...................
the thing was poorly designed
too curvy and heavy as all hell
and finding a 6spd version was harder than hell
i cant say ill miss it
i wasnt to partial to it , but the idea for it was cool , price sucked ass hardcore

My friends dad bought two of them for that same exact reason. He has a silver and a red one sitting in his garage.
I'm really not that sad to see it gone, I was never a big fan of the vehicle.
Have a good one,
Justin
People have been saying the same thing about the GTO and as of thus far, its only dropped in value. I dont wanna say it but, i got a feeling it will be more like "what the hell was an SSR?", in 15 years.

now they just need to get rid of the HHR and fire the guy who named those 2 vehicles
2006 Black Cobalt SS Supercharged G85

They discontinued a horrible selling useless pick up stree rod roadster thing finialy?
Too bad its 3 years too late. We still have a couple 05's and one 04 SSR on the lot we ca't get rid of to save our lives! Good riddence.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
I would think the GTO is decreasing in value due to it still being in production. Just like the mustangs, next year, youll be able to get an 06 mustang cheaper than this year. but, once it ends production, well actually a couple of years later, its value is gonna start increasing. example: older late 60's mustangs. when they were in production, they depreciated just like any other car, but now, they seem to be increasing in value.
oh yea, am I the only one that likes the SSR that came out in the island? dropped/rims. I thought it looked pimp.
You guys are right, the SSR is not holding value as there is no demand for it today. Hence the early discontinuation. Initially GM cut production for a few months in late 2005 and lately the plant was on in idle, initial plans to idle the assembly line was until April. But GM decided cut production and focus on other products instead.
Remember Camaro's funds, research development was "stolen" by this SSR, now it would seem the tables are turned.
And also this was never meant to be a high volume vehicle, but rather a "niche vehicle" if you will, kind of like the Plymouth Prowler and such.
Since this is a niche vehicle and it is so rare, I predict that in 20 yrs the value will go up especially the one with manual and LS2.

Thats a suprise NOT

. The design was nice and had a nice motor but it was no sportscar like GM wanted people to think it was. They should have just imported the Holden UTE and renamed it the El Camino.
I think it was decent looking but the sales didn't really sell that much of them. and most of the time I would find some old guy in one I dont know if it was co-insodence.
**changes are here**
SSR=Good Idea, bad execution.
Prowler=Great idea, Iffy execution
Both=Excellent Original Concepts.

I agree. ^^^
I liked it, but it was definitely overpriced.
But like said before, 20 years from now we're all gonna wish we had one.
The SSR is just ridiculous. There is a black fully loaded one at my work right now with a price tag of $48,620. Talk about a waste
I liked em. not many liked then got to agree price did suck.
"Chevy SSR ends production"
Thank god.
I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.

1960's to now= waaayy more than a couple years.
I think the big difference between the 60s mustang and the SSR, is the following. The Mustang had a huge amount of people and companies that supported it, and wanted it. The SSR is kinda just the opposite. Not saying it wont increase in value....but doubt it will be able to come close to the following the 60's stangs have.
