Because I'm a lazy ass, and I can't fint it from Metra or Crutchfield websites, anyone know if there's a way to replace the G35 Factory stereo with a 2-din (whatever) unit?
I'm looking at buying a G35 in the next couple months, and most that I'm seeing aren't coming with the DVD Navigation system, and I'd also like to get the regular DVD capabilities.
If it can't be done, I suspect I'll just have to start offing small animals (I'll start with the ugly ones first) until they do.
Thankis in advance folks!

my buddies dad has a beautiful G35 4 door and they have a 2 DIN headunit in it, not sure if they bought it or custom made it.
if anyone wants to post sum pics for me i'll email em to you. this car is gorgeous!
doesn't Pioneer have a stationary unit?
Alpine, if i recall, does not come with nav built in. i believe you have to purchase the nav components separately.

I saw that one, thanks Bruce
It's cool, but I don't think I'm going to put a mini-ITX comp in the car, if I can get an iPod bridge and a decent nav system, I'll go with that. DLing tunes from the house to the car puter would involve more wireless networking stuff than I'm prepared to tinker with, and I don't have a garage, so cable-transfers are out of the question. Plus, this is going to be a winter car... I don't want to be replacing HDD's because ball-bearings wore out because of shrinkage. If it was to be a summer car, I'd have no problems going that route.... MP3Car is a great site
Rascal: Yeah, I plan to make it a wee bit more sporty though... Simple z-tube, intake plenum spacer, K&N filter, suspension stuff... Nothing too fancy. I might supercharge it, but not immediately. Turboing it isn't out of the picture either, but I'm not eager to do it when the cost of doing that is about $7000 before the installation.

Yeah thats the kit you need. Go visit
G35 forum You'll find every answer there
No problem. And if i remember reading right, you wont need the bracket you can just use the stock one. You may need a trim ring though depending on what radio you use. I've seen some people make them

Yeah.. I've still got the winter tires on it, in fact.
I'm not replacing my head unit with it so I may pull it out for winter, I haven't decided yet..

Keep in mind my main motivation for the carputer isn't MP3's it's my Hondata K-pro

followed by GPS navigation. The stock head unit is a 6 disc changer (and I've got 3 CD wallets in the car) it's not like I'm hurting for a selection of music while in the car.

Meh... CD's are sooo 1982.
I've got the ipod in my car, so I just use the tape player adapter... I'm not sinking any money into the Alero for the stereo.. not yet at any rate.
Once I get the G35 though, I plan on getting the 2 din conversion etc, and then make my decision on what to do with it... I don't know if that AVIC N-1 has an iPod interface, but what ever I decide on, it's GOT to have that. Shuffling CD's is for the birds.
