Finally got rid of the money trap....
Thursday, July 13, 2006 8:01 AM
Well after getting tired of wasting money on something that was never going to be fast anyhow I finally got rid of the cavalier. My interest for modding the car just pretty much died....and after sitting down and realizing how much money I put into the car kinda of makes me mad. So, I traded her in.....

Cavy

For this...

04 Ranger XLT 4x4 FX4 Supercab

And the reason for getting the truck:

My 2006 Honda CRF230F

I would just like to say thanks to everyone on this site who has ever helped out with any problems or questions. I found this site very informational over the past couple years or so that I've been here.

That honda looks nice. If i was still into dirtbikes that would be the bike i owned...However, i wouldnt be caught dead driving that truck.

IF you dont mind, how much did you get for the cavy? I just think its one of the nicer ones on this site...

Hey thanks for the comments. I never thought I would own a Ford myself , but the price was good and I like how it looks compared to any of the other newer mid sized trucks out today.

The dealer gave me $8,000 for my cavalier on trade. Everything went with it, the Kelley Blue Book value was about $6,000

Damn, that seems like a pretty good price if you ask me.

Yeah thats one of the main things i hate about the Rangers are the looks..Id rather have a Colorado or Canyon.

But hey, when the price is right, even an ugly hooker looks beautiful

I don't blame you one bit. I want a truck now, too. However, you need to lift that puppy up a bit and put on some ATs...

Nice buy, though. Rangers are good trucks.

from slow, with good mileage, POTENTIAL to be quick, and relatively good looks to slow, mediocre mileage, and almost no real performance potential, and ugly..... hmmm, not sure about the decision process on that one.

Although, at the very least, its not really a ford, so reliability shouldn't be an issue

Let me get this straight. You traded in a money trap... for an even bigger money trap?

Ah the joys of the Ranger. I hope you are stocking up on transmissions, you're going to need them. One per year should usually suffice, though I've seen them eat 3 of them in a single year.

That doesn't really bother me... i just got tired of wasting money on my car and needed something to haul around my bike so I can ride. No real plans yet to do anything to the bike...maybe exhaust and get it jetted.

I said I was tired of wasting money to try and make it fast...so i got tired of trying and decided to buy something to haul the new toy

actually i was supprised when i mashed the gas in this thing...definately think it could beat the old cavalier. gas mileage does kinda suck though.

Not worried...got a 6 year 75,000 mile warranty and there are only 2 years and 23000 miles on it
