Tiburon GT V6 Potential 56k SOL

I didn't know what else to name this I'm sure some asshat like Kyle Kurtz will come in pulling his lil 4G63 loving dick out talking @!#$ but for those of you who are actually interested in cars and whats new on the different models and potential here you go below.

First up NGM has come out with a new blower for the tibs before we only had the MP62.. Now we have the MP90 4th Gen.

Quoted from the NGM thread on the newtiburon.com board.
Quote:

We did a preliminary dyno on a bone stock automatic and came up with 250WHP with a big 3.3" pulley on the supercharger @ 8lbs of boost. This is twice the amount of boost that the MP62 generates at the same pulley size. The MP90 moves soo much more volume at a very low speed making a bunch more power. We ended up with over 240Ftlbs on the same dyno run.

Below are the photos.

Below is the dyno run.
Sweet Whine

Below are just some of the cars running the NGM parts. Keep in mind all of these but the first one is running stock internals and bottom end.

Stevegel's fully rebuilt N/A motor + nitrous assisted beast...316 WHP + 350 lbs-ft/torque (MTX)

Tibby03's Alpine S/C w/ NGM stage 2.5 upgrade @ 11-12 psi ....287 WHP + 277 lbs-ft/torque (ATX)

Lotus580's Alpine S/C w/ NGM Stage 2 upgrade.....282 WHP +232 lbs-ft/torque (MTX)

Dingleweed's Alpine S/C w/ NGM Stage 2 Upgrade.......260 WHP + 230 lbs-ft/torque (MTX)

Myst's Alpine S/C w/ NGM Stage 2 Upgrade......248 WHP + 250 lbs-ft/torque (ATX)

Nokeler's Alpine S/C w/ NGM Stage 2 Upgrade......225 WHP + 225 lbs-ft/torque (ATX)

Always cool to see good results and appreciate them when it comes to other cars besides whatever we own and such.

I'm looking at going turbo.. The MP90 setup is good though it comes with all the fuel system upgrades and everything you need to just bolt it up.. 4500 out the door.

I found the turbo setup I'd like to do. The below is pulled off the NT board the owner of this setup was selling it for around 3k I believe mainly because his SAFC II was wired wrong and ended up flooding the motor with fuel and roasting it.

Mainly it's a pretty simple design I mean that because it makes use of aftermarket headers then branches off in a y pipe to the turbo and theres less mess with running the charge pipes in the front of the car.. Which is good because they have the V6 shoe horned in there to begin with and the dual cooling fans on it barely fit in the front and the header in back is nearly up against the firewall. This also means it is a P.I.T.A to swap headers out. It's also a somewhat P.I.T.A to remove the upper intake manifold because 3 of the bolts are next to the firewall on the back portion. Which means you need hands like a 3 year old to comfortabley remove the bolts.. This took me around a hour to do to swap out the plug wires *thumbs up* damn koreans for putting things in tight fitting spots.

^That looks f-ing awesome.
Deffitnatly horrizontal V6s are not easy to work on. Ewww! What makes it a little easier is that you are a 60 degree and not a 90.
Now onward with the show...

I really like your 4cyl Tibby dude...that is a siiick car theres nothing around here that would even come close to keeping up...atleast not without double the cylinders and triple the displacement

if it ain't broke...MAKE IT GO FASTER

The 4 cylinder isn't mine.. That is one from overseas in korea. I have the V6 model still nothing done to it mainly haven't been able to put money away to start modding due to missing work due to health issues with my mom and other @!#$.

Although the 4 cylinder is cheaper to modifiy.. The 2.0 in the new body style is the same 2.0 from the prior Tiburon body style and there other small cars.. Actually you can pick up a Turbo kit with FMIC for around 1500-2k for the 2.0 Now if only I liked the older body style lol.

When I have more time I'll dig up the pics and vid of the 422HP SC V6 tibby on the NT board. I'm trying to find his updated info I can't locate the thread where they had it on the dyno and it was nearly to the 500whp mark but kept blowing vacum lines off so they shut it down.

I'll also dig up the vid of the built auto trans testing they had. Also keep checking back I'll post the dyno vid of another turbo 4 cylinder I just need to upload it.

i just want that M90 universal s/c they are using , make my cav alot more fun

those are all pretty nice setup's

Therefore the best way is to TIG weld small sections of pipe together to make your own bend. In this case the clown MIG welded ALUMINUM (or Steel, but I'm pretty sure that looks like Al). I don't even want to know how those pipes look inside. I'm betting its a mess. If he gave two @!#$s about performance he'd have just used a normal mandrel bent pipe, and if necessary welded 2 sections of pipe together if he needed a special kind of bend.

I work with a guy who's got an 03 i think. He just got his M62 put on, and dyno'd in at around 260 i believe. He went to the track and did 14's though, his wheels are so big, and his tires to tiny he was wheel hopping all over i guess.

I'm not sure on the ECU remap. I forget the name of the company which does them but they do it for the V6 also. The ones they do on the V6 takes the redline from 6700-7500.

But yes the 2.0 motor from Hyundai is pretty much bullet proof from the factory they tuning etc they are able to push over 400whp.. Not bad at all.. The V6 though will usually kill over at slightly over 330WHP a fully built motor and trans from NGM is in the range of about 10-15k which is they ship it to you and its just pull all old crap and put in the new... There is a vid of the white 422whp V6 tib on the streetfire site also.. He was running mid to high 12s in the video spinning tires..

The 4 cylinder in korea seems to be more popular for obvious reasons the fact you can produce over 400whp for maybe around 6k since the turbo kits are around 2k..

If he gave 2 @!#$s about performance? The above is the 400whp daily driven tib.. I think the welds are working fine for him with those numbers.. I found a vid of the car but its crappy mostly them driving around getting on it a little it sounds nice you can't really hear the BOV in the vid though.

there are a lot of vids of that black tibby on streetfire, and yeah, i think 400 hp says more than enough about how serious the guy is about performance... so he went with something of a trend in asia with the welded pipes, how many people do way dumber stuff than that over here?

Anyway, while that motor DOES have OEM internals, they are not the internals it came with out of the factory. They are the connecting rods from a 1.8L beta engine which are shorter, so that it reduces the compression... I'm not positive, but he may be using the pistons from that motor as well. Its been a while since I talked to him on Seoulfulracing.com forums. His name is Jay too lol.

Anyway, monkey, stop posting stuff like this you're making my automotive ADD kick in again!

Aw well good to know you know the guy. I assumed stock internals because he didn't have them on his parts list. I know of a few others running the stock internals though pushing well over 300whp.. The V6 guys got the short end of the stick in a sense for us to push over 330WHP we need to build the motor but hey you know 330WHP is still somewhat impressive for a stock bottom end and rods/pistons.

Before my wife got pregnant and we bought our explorer I was looking at an 03-04 tiburon or around there. They are pretty sweet. WAY over priced brand new though. I was reading up on them since I wanted to buy one. A lot of people talked about the 4 cyl being a lot better engine and a lot stronger. They said right out of the box its slower but if you wanted to do some serious modding that the 4cyl was the way to go. The 6 cyl wasn't nearly as strong.

I still like them a lot. I think they're pretty sweet. I'll be going to Korea before long for a year and they are real popular to fix up. The emblem for them is way sweet. I forget what its called. I'm sure one of you guys knows though. I cant seem to remember.
