I'm looking at picking up one of these as my first car. I've been driving my parents cavalier for a while but now that my sister has started working we desperately need another car. The car is a 2000 black 2 door alero with the 3.4L V6. I'm just wondering if these are very durable cars or if they have a lot of maitenance issues? If anyone has one, what do you think of it overall? it seems like a pretty nice car. Thanks for any input.
Alero's are nice cars. As long as the person before you took care of it and you take care of it as well, it will be good to you.
they are just as good as cavaliers..maybe a little better. i have alot of friends with aleros and they dont have any problems and they have quite a bit of aftermarket stuff for them
Tila Tequila? PPSSSSSHHH she's got nothing on me, except i'm not a porn star. and that's ok.
make sure the LIM gasket has been replaced or do it immediately after you get it.... The new gaskets are made of metal material instead of plastic.
Well it's a 2000 so the LIM gasket shouldnt be an issue. It was more of an issue on the 99's when they were in the process of switching from the older design 3100/3400 to the newer. A 2000 would have the newer design engine and therefore the newer LIM which is metal with the tabs. Which reminds me, my 99' 3100 is still in need of that LIM swap, hmm
I think the base model alero is the lightest of the n-bodyies by about 50-100lbs. I looked it up one time. and could be had with the 3400v6 so I imagine it would make a nice daily driver or project if you wanted

when you beat someone in a civic people wine and make excuses
when you beat someone in a cavalier they pull over and check under thier hoods
know problems for aleros is brakes, wheel bearings and the that stupid lower intake manifold gasket. so my advice find a four cylinder the v6 has too many promblems.
