Opinions - 2001 GMC Jimmy, check it!

Might be trading in my car for this...the guy is offering me 5k + and I can get the Jimmy for around 6k. Anyone ever had one or have any opinions on them? I wouldn't be modding it or anything, just somethin nice and it seems like a good deal, and good truck. Just need some other opinions before buying it! Thanks!

i hope you dont give a @!#$ about gas mileage
the 4.3 liter is a gas hog
and add the fact that it is 4wd doesnt help either

The best mileage I ever got with mine was 22 on the highway, thats not that bad. It was a '93 pickup 4x4 with the 4.3.

I think they are an awesome truck very solid and its only got 57K on it, Geez I would buy anything with that low of mileage. My dad has a '99 Blazer 4.3 2 door and it runs flawlessly at around 110,000.

If you need/like them, I have nothing terribly bad to say about them, except the gas mileage. 22 on the highway might not be bad to you, but going from a cavalier, that might suck.

Ok compared to a cavi no but for a 4x4 truck that seats four pretty comfortably and will easily pull a decent sized boat or trailer, 22 is pretty good, plus that 22 was on my old worn out '93 throttle body.

the 4.3 is a really nice engine. my friend has one in his chevy C/K 2500 with 227.000K on it and its all the stock parts. just changed the spark plugs oil and air filter.

thats what I'm saying, he might be a little shocked to get 22 after realizing just how little that is from 34.

Steering and suspension problems amuck. Idler/Pitman arms, ball joints, Tie rod ends, ect. That's all we used to do on those Jimmys (Worked for GMC). They had so many problems that GM issued out acceptable tolerances for wear on a lot of those parts.

If you aren't worried about it and are going to use it as a beater truck or whatever, I say go for it. If you want to maintain it and keep it in good working order, I would find a differant ride.

You'll get about 17mpg city and around 21-22mpg highway. I don't really have any complaints with mine, except occasionally when not paying attention when shifting into gear or back in park your knuckles may hit the 4x4 buttons. And even if you hate vent visors it's a good idea to keep them on these cause if you want your window cracked and have wipers on all the water comes pouring in the window from them and will eventually mess up the power window / lock buttons.

I have a 2000 Blazer and it gets 15mpg in town. That is why I bought my wife her Vert. Now we don't use the Blazer as much.

I'm really not that worried about the MPG, because well...honestly I drive my Grandma around, food shopping, doctors, things like that because she doesn't drive so she usually gives me gas money! It's a fair deal to me! Plus she's 80, but still the coolest Grandma in the world, know more about sports than anyone on this board haha.
