Okay, so you may or may not have seen my husbands original post about what happened to our car...if not, here ya go :
original post
anyhow, to make a long story short, i drove through too much water what it was raining really bad one night, and it stalled the car. the shop says that the engine is water locked, and alot of stuff needs replaced, so the nsurance company decided to total it out. for us, thats good and bad, good because we get a new car, and the cavalier was really feeling like a regret....we didnt pick out the car, his parents did, so i definately felt we could have got a better car for the price we paid. bad because now our car payment is 390 a month compared to 210, but i guess you pay to have a better car....
i took some pics of the cavalier, and the new car too, a 2006 Toyota Matrix, lemme know what you think
ANYHOW, ON WITH THE PICS..... (lots of em too!!!

this is the front of the cavy after the water accident, lotssss of water got into the intake and engine, as well as the interior!

heres an engine shot, they took off some parts which is what you see laying around...

some last shots of the cavy (SNOWBALL)

and a rear shot

and an interior shot - yes it stil had a long way to go.....
what really upsets me about this whole thing, is that in the state of illinois, you cant buy back a totaled vehicle from the insurance company, unless it is more than 7 years old, so the person who gets this, only has to drop a new engine in it, replace some carpet, and finsih painting the interior, which is halfway done, and they have a 2003 cavy with only 52,000 miles for a cheap ass salvage price....ugh

my new baby, a 2006 Toyota Matrix XR - only 400 miles!!

I am so in love with it

another front shot at night

a shot of the interior guages at night, these are soo pretty at night, really bright too

another one, only not lit up..

I love the way the back end looks, with it being a hatchback too, audio should sound awesome compared to the cav.

my babies together!

matrix interior shot

stock wheels (will eventually be replaced and dropped)

engine bay pic

engine bay pic 2 - notice how much room there is for a turbo!! hehe

the beginning of the amp install for the two front speakers, and the two rears. we have 6.5 mb quart discus componets in front, and 5x7 mb quart discus coaxials in the back. HU is a panasonic. not sure what model right now.
Overall i think im happy with the outcome of the entire situation, at least we have a set of wheels to get us to and from work, and luckily the only thing that got hurt was the cavy, and not us.
Im sure i will still be around browsing jbo, but now im moving on to
Toyota Nation
Thanks to everyone for any help that youve given, wish we wouldve been able to finish this project, but now at least we have a very reliable car. I dont think that we will go the kitted route this time around, or do too much to the interior, i kind of want a stockish, clean look, i guess im just sick of modding out a car just for appearance, i think we're gna go performance this time, with just a few exterior mods. A drop and some new rims are definately in the works, as well as maybe a cf hood, and some cf tails, tint, and maybe even some new seats, who knows. other than that, audio and performance will be the only changes.
All C&C Welcome.....
