the new toy story

I guess the "hawk is gonna get put on hold AGAIN!!!! I made a deal this week I couldnt walk away from.

heres the story......
I have known a guy for a couple years on another site I belong to. He mentioned to me a few weeks ago that he had gotten ahold of a 454 that he really wasnt all that interested in. Well I went to look at it last saturday and ended up loading it into the Rodeo for 50 bucks. As soon as I got it home I was tearing into it to see what I had. Decent short block.... very little cylinder and bearing wear. Heads were junk, one was cracked. I was telling a guy at work about it and he said he had some fresh big block heads he'd sell for a bill, so I told them they were sold. Tuesday night I told another coworker about the deal ( a real big block freak), and he mentioned he really wanted another big block. We got to talking and did a little horse trading........... I now own a 73 datsun 240Z in dammmmm good shape, with the small block conversion kit and the full length headers.. YEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW !!!!!!!!!!
Basically the only problems with the car are minimal rust on the bottoms of the doors, a small spot on the hood, and the carpet is crap. All I need to drop my stroker in the car is a radiator, a tranny, a driveshaft, and a stronger unit for the IRS. Since the truck is torn apart right now getting completely redone, I have the motor just sitting there collecting dust... kind of a shame.. dont yall think... lol. Ill have pics of the car this weekend after we get her home and during the swap Ill snap a few more for those that care.

Hmmmm... a 425hp 383 in a 2700lb car (2375 title weight plus the diff for the sb)......... anyone care to speculate as to some 1/4 mile times?????

Im so excited I cant go to sleep at night anymore. Cant wait till she gets here saturday. Called my HR guy at work today.... took out a loan from my 401k. Ive decided to go ahead and get my aluminum heads, roller cam and roller rockers. The setup im going with shows well over 500 hp on desktop dyno. I know its not perfect, but its sure nice to have an idea. I figure I should be able to get her on the road within a month 1/2 to 2 months. Just in time to run a few weekends at the track, have a little fun, then start the teardown for bodywork and paint.

This is the closest I could fine to what she looks like..... white with black interior. What do yall think this car would look like with side pipes????

I work on Wall Street, but didn't force you to take out a loan you couldn't afford.

Yeah.. the side pipes didnt look as good as I thought they would.

Well.... got the car here... not in quite as good of shape as Id hoped, but still not bad. Its gonna need doors, a cowl panel, a hood (which Id already planned on going cowl induction) and a few small spots of cancer in the quarters. I got it cleaned up a little today and started stripping the interior out of it. Im planning on running it as just a little stripped down racer anyway... except for a decent stereo system, nice buckets and very few other "comforts". Snapped a few shots tonight, sorry theyre so dark, was so busy getting it stripped I forgot to take the pics with daylight. Ill get more posted as work progresses.

All in all... still a damm good deal for 150 bucks.... lol

and a shot of the trunk stripped out already

He probably got the kit and the headers to fit along with it

Not a car with the conversion already done

made it sound liek its already finished..... and judging by John's reply I was not the only one that got the impression that it was already a V8

I said it had the conversion KIT and HEADERS.... didnt say it was already done. I also stated that I was dropping MY stroker in the car. Sorry if yall got confused... I thought it was clear.
