The pick-up is without a doubt the Toyota Tacoma and the the SUV is also 100% a Mitsubishi Montero Sport with a new face.

Wasn't there another Chinese company similar to this (I think named Chery) that got sued by GM for trying to bring cars to the marketplace that had very obvious styling to one of their brands within GM?

chery also stole designs for the supra(and called it something retarded like the Tiger), etc.

I think it will crap out worse than Renault's invasion in the 80's especially considering alot of jobs are being outsourced to china and those people sure as hell wouldn't buy a vehicle made in China.

When I was in China no one drove Chinese cars.

It was all 80s Volkswoods and Peugeots. Audi's were their 'upper class' car of choice. No Japanese cars. No American cars. Few Hyundais, and the super rare exclusive high end euro trash Ferrari's and Lambos.

GM is getting a foot in there. I saw what looked to be renamed or rebaged Buicks in a GM showroom in Beijing. Nothing on the road, though.

I have "heard" nothing but bad things about the China car market. Could be propaganda, but I'm leaning towards them being more true then anything that they are all poorly crafted crap-mobiles.

CHAMCO... sounds like a company that should be making socks-in-a-can

so... basically they're selling 10 year old cars for 3/4 of the price of a new one? sounds like a deal to me!

chamco seems a bit odd. doesnt seem right to be remaking what loosk liek old cars and sellign them new.

however chery is not the same deal. chery is actually ATTEMPTING to become a good self relying auto company and they arent doign soo bad so far.

wikipedia=
In 2005, Chery was upgraded to ISO/TS 16949:2002 production quality, the highest and strictest quality control system in the global auto industry. They also began working with Malcolm Bricklin's company, Visionary Vehicles, to be one of the first Chinese automobiles sold in the United States. The plan calls for five new car lines to be imported. The cars would include a basic, inexpensive model, a larger sedan, a sporty coupé, an SUV, and a sport wagon. Aesthetic design would be handled by Bertone and Pininfarina of Italy known for their designs for Ferrari and Lamborghini. AVL of Austria is also working with Chery to produce 18 engines, including a turbodiesel, for the new line of cars. The new engine brand, called ACTECO, meets Euro IV emissions standards and uses advanced technologies such as aluminium alloy cylinder blocks/heads and direct fuel injection. Botch will produce some of the transmissions. Lotus Engineering (known for their racing car chassis expertise) is aiding Chery in car design and quality. Ricardo Consulting Engineers Ltd is also devolping a hybrid powertrain for Chery. Bricklin plans to have 250 dealers in the United States selling 250,000 cars in 2008.
