Let me introduce you to the new whip. My new, but slightly used, 2000 Toyota Celica... better known by her new name,
Black Betty™.
For those of you following my blogs know that I am currently in the middle of a dissolution(divorce). Part of the fun part of going through such an event is deciding which material object goes to which partner. The Ford Explorer ended up going with the misses, while I was left with my bike. I knew I would not be able to get around with 2 dogs and my equipment for gigs, so I sold the bike last week. Made someone a great deal and for a first bike I am not even sure the gentleman knew exactly how good of a bike/deal he was getting.
Now left with a decision of what to do for transportation? I have always been a huge car nut and for those of you that remember my old car before I got married, I was into the tuner scene. Now living a lifestyle that doesn't leave much room for a hobby such as that I decided I better just get something functional and practical. After checking around on gas mileage, cars, etc.. I was starting to realize just because I was searching for function and practical doesn't mean I can't look for sexy as well.
Which brings me to my beautiful car now...
Averaging around 34 miles a gallon and packing a bit of a punch at 4 cylinders I settled with my dark beauty and new obsession. All though she may be 7 years old she is in great shape and needs very little changing to be tailored into my chariot of choice. I have been cruising around the last few days and absolutely love her! If any of you know me well, I am a sucker for black. I am also obsessed with Johnny Cash... so I guess I am kind of the new school man in black.
I just wanted to share that I have a new love, and as long as I take care of her, she will be loving me back. I made my first trip to tune her up today. Her battery was busted so I gave her a new Optima Yellow Top™. Threw in some new hyper white headlights, new door speakers, and a headunit that allows me to control my
kYpod™ while its tucked nicely out of sight in my glove box. Have to love modern technology! If any of you live near Mansfield, check out Car Audio Design. I used to work there a few years ago and they are the only people I will let handle any of my vehicles. From security, to audio, to custom accessories they have been in business well over 15 years and have the best staff possible!
Leave me some love on your thoughts...
now for the jbody guys:
Keeping it clean. Going to do a nice coilover set, most likely Tein. I am throwing some black 18's under her, with some black housing projectors. Getting TYC Reds, and nightshading with 3-5 coats. Idea here is to remain practical as a daily driver, yet sexy and sleek as a new single TomKat. She will be having the god awful mirror tint stripped and replaced with 20%. Alarm and highs, and a 10" with color matched vinyl box will be going in soon as well. Again remaining super clean, super sexy, and all done properly... no shortcuts or half assing.
