That's just the thing, this a 2008 model. For 2008, BMW did revisions and facelifts. Besides
BMW is not new at this.
Low reliability, digusting looks (objective & IMO), now low impact ratings, so much for "sophisticated German engineering."

Well I'm not arguing it's safe and better engineering than everyone else, just that it's better than a Brilliance BS6.
Mercedes as well, even took its cars back after performing poorly and redesigned them and still go tthe same rating, in the same year! Talk about waste of time.

German engineers in all aspects need to have their internal organs extracted with a corkscrew.

But seriously, if you're paying luxury money on a car, you should not get that low of rating especially on crashes, more so on side impact.
Hopefully people will be more informed on what BMW is.

if i paid 5k for a brand new car , id kinda expect it to be a coffin on wheels
but if i paid 60k for a car , id expect to walk away , a limp would be acceptable

Yeah... they suck HUGE.
BMW has taken a real hit lately, which kinda sucks. I remember them being a high-water marque.
