I have not seen any press conference on this; So I can only hope this is true, but I don't doubt this is true. Personally, I did not like the SS moniker and I think ZR-1 is just about perfect.

Its kinda stupid though . . . The ZR-1 was technically like the original Z06 for the older Vettes. Then the Z06 came in and blew away the ZR1 and the Z06 became the new "big" Vette. Now they are going to offer the Z06, and then ZR1 and the ZR1 will be the faster one...? *shrugs*

I'm tired of reading things on this Vette name, its beyond stupid now. Pick a f*ckin name and stick with it, lol

the first "Z06" actually existed as a racing package on the 1963 Corvette Split Window coupe....it came before ZR-1.

The ZR-1 came out in either 70 or 71 with a small block and there was a ZR-2 with a big block.

Lets hope the LS3 can put down 700, and get an extra kick in the handling department. We need something to blow the top off the European supercar market .

ZL-1 1969 Corvette, only 2 were made, both all aluminum 427s
LT-1 1971 Corvette, The original LT-1 was a 350 ci engine package that arrived in 1971

I Think....dont quote me on those tho.

I love how the best car under 175k now becomes the "midrange" Corvette

GM>all

Whats the matter Honda, Toyota, Ford?

Thier F1 cars barely put out what this thing is going to have

1989 Turbo Trans Am #82, 2007 Cobalt SS G85

To me its only a ZR-1 if it has a DOHC 350 ci V8. LT-5 FTMFW.

1990-92: 375 hp, 370 tq
1993-95: 405 hp, 385 tq

Im sure the new performance version of the vette will be bad ass though. If I saw one I would probably want to it.

^^^ agree but its cool to see that gm is still using a pushrod motor where as everythign else besides the viper is a dohc.

besides we all know the ZR-1 was a lotus designed engine working with gm. the LSX has been money since it 1st came out

^^^^^^ Built by Mercury Marine as well. Still think the LT-5 was one of the best engines GM got its hands on.

I do agree with GM continuing the use of the pushrod engines. The fact that GM can get reliable power and damn good fuel economy (concidering what the engines go in) out of an "old technology" engine speaks volumes about the product.
