these cars worry me that may canabilize sales from the camaro
not the v8 but the so important 6 banger cars.
if some one has a choice between that v8 colorado or v6 camaro
which one would buy?
the new v6 camaro is supose to 230-260 hp im trying get used to a 6banger camaro
because it will be the one im my price range
maybe there be a v8 ranger soon
v6 Camaro pumping about 260 horsepower...I'll take one, as well as a v8 colorado

well, if someone wants a sporty GM car and doesnt care about hp, prolly the camaro. If someone wants a sport truck, the colorado. I dont think its going to be a "well the colorado has more hp than the v6 camaro, I'll get the truck". I'm sure there will be those people, but it wont be the majority nor will it effect the camaro IMO
Definetly nice that GM is doing this, you'll just have to get all that TqMgt removed to have any fun with it.
carnivorous mouse wrote:maybe there be a v8 ranger soon
it has been rumoured for a little while that there might be a v6 diesel ranger comming to our shores. apparently it is available in mexico or eurpoe, but not here. its not a v8, but makes som major power anyways.

i'm wondering why its no charge on gmc and on chevy.com showing $0.00 for that option hmmm
I asked my dad who has worked for GM for 36 years, he said it is part of a marketing strategy. but still, going from a 242hp motor to a 315hp motor for free????? if I ran the gm sales department I would be strangleing people if I found out about that @!#$.
oh well, betters for me though.
still waiting for my dad to get me back that employee discount number so I can get the price down
I dunno about the colorados to much but the orange gmc wint the grey interior, grey side moldings and chrome rims looks mutha-fing pimp

Im happy they finally did this. Now if they just offered it in a 2wd Reg Cab with a 5/6speed tranny. Id buy one.
Its prolly not free persay. If I order a GMC denali I get the 6.2l V8 for free. Its not really free, but included with the Trim Level I chose.
I have a feeling this is how thats gunna work.
Nutcase, will is be your first car using the discount?
it's cool that they are putting a V8 in the Colorado, but it sucks because I know that I'll never be able to buy a 2WD, regular cab, manual tranny base model with a V8. That's dumb, at least Dodge lets you pick what you want.
I love V8 GM Trucks.
Slap a STS kit and that SOB and we be ballin'.
as far as the dakota, I did look at one. I am not going to lie, they are the best truck in the class by far. I looked at toyota, nissan, chevy also(the chevy has more sporty options, but nothing I would ever really use or want, besides I like the gmc styling beter, personal preferance). the problem with the dakota is that they START at 24k. and with the v8 you can only get the 5 speed auto anyways. the dakota v8 optioned the same way as the gmc is like 36k or something. if I wanted to spend 36k I would get a decked out f150 or a decked out sierra 1500 or something.
my dad has used the gm discount before. he swaears he can get me the discount but we will have to see. I worked for gm for like 2 years also. this will be my first new car. I have been on dealership lots before. only 2 of my cars have come from dealerships. becouse in the past I have gone for cars like mustangs and trans ams, for some reason the salesmen thinks I am an idiot and I have had to school a few of them that were trying to screw me.
so in basic, I have a bad taste in my mouth for car salesmen. I hope this works out though. for a guy like me who is already sold on the truck, knows what I want, and can drop 10 on a down payment, I hope these guys don't try @!#$ on me. I am stubborn enough to walk of the lot just on principal.
as far as the package thing I know what you are talking about. the 2 highest trim levels on extended cab offer the motor. and just for the fact that they will let you go from a 242hp 5cyl to a 315hp v8 still boggels the mind. right now I am deciding between the slt 4sa trim level and the sle2 3sb trim level.
optioned the way I want the 3sb trim level comes out to 23,820 and the 4sa comes out to 25,610. the only diff between the two after I pick all my options is the 4sa has leather interior, heated seats, power seats, and recovery hooks that I will never use. so right now I am trying to figure out if I want to pay 1800 for leater interior. I can afford either even after tax and @!#$ but I do have other financial obligations to worry about also.
it just sucks that even if I do get approved for everything today and I find a dealership that will do this for me in the killeen area it will still be 6-8 weeks(according to my dad) until I will be driving it
if you clicked on my link did you notice I ordered the locking rear but not tracktion control......wink wink nudge nudge

Dodge also basically gives their trucks away. Last year I was pricing out a Ram, reg. cab, 8-foot bed, 4.7, 6-speed, 4WD, base model truck, and on the Dodge website the price after all rebates was $19,000... seriously, you can't even get an Accord for that price. Dodge's MSRP prices are way higher than GM's, but you'd never pay close to retail price for one.
I've never looked at the new Dakotas, I'm a fan of the previous 97-04 style, and I know that I built one on their site that was the perfect sport truck. Reg. cab, 318, 5-speed, Sport appearance package, 2WD, posi, big gears, everything. This was an 03 or 04 model, but still, I could only dream of that from Chevy or Ford.
