Need a good commuter. Dont want to rack miles up on the truck and the jeep is about to be sold.
Something thats semi comfy but good gas milage is a must. 8-12k range.
I had been looking at 06-08 Civics but having trouble finding one now.
Not really into the cobalts or a cav.
Id like it to be an 05+
Ideas?
good daily commuter + good gas mileage = '82 Volkswagen Rabbit Diesel
People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......
Mazda 3. seems to be a popular car, I know 3 people that have one and love it.
You know what...i just started looking at them today
Toyota Corolla 5spd. Very good on gas, all around good car. With the automatic the car feels very underpowered, with a 5spd it's just fine.
x2 on the corolla... my mom and dad went to boston and back in theres (from hamilton ontario) and spent a total of 60 bucks in gas...
darkstars just got a fit, i just got done riding in it, 31mpg while driving agressively. all the parts for it have dyno sheets to prove increases in power and mileage. real nice SPACIOUS car. EXCELLENT MPG.
fyi mazda 3 isnt that great on the gas, my 2200 does it better even eco too I believe. good luck

Civics are littering used dealership lots... I'm leery as to why that is... But for some strange reason they're still asking a crapload for them.
My Yaris is a commuter. Point A-to-B. If you're looking for more then that, look into the Corolla or the Civic, maybe a used Cobalt/G5.

for just a commuter and going for gas mileage, a Yaris or a Fit.
I've driven my sister's Yaris. it's pretty nimble, and it's got some pick up to it too.

You definitely know when the VVT-i kicks in, it goes from slug-like to zippy... Same also applies for gas mileage (last fill-up I was getting 8.6L/100km... 27.4mpg... wifey is a maniac in the go-kart...)

Vince and I were talking about the Fit. I may look into it, but I love the Yaris to and had already considered it. Its the size though..Im a big guy
darkstars had said that he can fit more comfortably in the fit than he ever could in the cav
food for thought
Yaris/Fit/Versa: All are surprisingly roomy.
If not those, then an 82 VW Diesel Rabbit. Cheap fuel = win
Diesel is not cheap anymore...
deisel is more expensive than gas by like $.40
Come to Canada and get an 03 or 04 Echo 3dr hatchback. Find a manual one without power steering and without A/C. They are cheap, really good on gas, and they look better than the Yaris does. Also they weigh less than 2100lbs, so even with only 109hp, they aren't slow.
Haha without A/C? Come on now....not gunna happen

Then, I'd probably go with a Honday fit. If you didn't want a 05+ I'd definatly say a Geo Metro. But, other than that ... I don't really know what else to say.

The civics are good car and they do retain there value very well just look at the book values nada,or kbb.Yeah there are loads of them avail used everywhere. As a example my wife had a 95 ex bought new, well maintaned by me and not one issue over the 9yrs we owned it and when we sold it in 03 the book was 5100-5500.I would consider the civ great on mpg and a solid car that's my recomm.Good luck on what ever u choose.
